When you install new batteries in your mouse, make sure they face the correct direction, as shown in the image that follows.
Battery life and replacement tips
Your mouse has a standby mode to conserve power when not in use. Here are some other ways you can extend the battery life:

Use only alkaline batteries. Non-alkaline batteries (ex. NiMH,or NiCd) operate at a lower voltage and may reduce the battery life.

Make sure replacement batteries are new and within the manufacturer's expiration date.
