Many things can affect camera bandwidth, including:
- Low powerline strength between the camera's power supply and the network adapter.
- Lots of local network traffic, such as transferring large files between two computers.
- Large amounts of online network traffic, such as streaming from Netflix.
- Bad Ethernet cables.
- Ethernet cables not being securely plugged in.
- Failing networking equipment, such as a switch or router.
- Faulty device on the network generating a lot of traffic.
- Traffic routed over WiFi networks that don't have a good connection.
- A lot of broadcast or multi-cast traffic on the network.
NOTE: This traffic not only gets routed onto the wired LAN, but also over the powerline network. Broadcast traffic also gets a higher priority over the powerline network, reducing the bandwidth available for point-to-point traffic.
