To play music from an external drive, first choose:
Windows 7 / XP / Vista
Connect your external drive to your computer (see your operating system or computer documentation for help.)
NOTE: If you're connecting to a network or shared drive/folder, make sure you've already mapped to this drive/folder before moving on.
Open the Logitech Media Server Control Panel by double-clicking either the desktop or taskbar icon.
Click the Library tab.
In the Media Source section under Media Folders, click the Add button. This should display the Browse For Folder window.
In the Browse For Folder window, locate the external or network drive, or the subfolder within it that you want to connect to, and then click OK.
Repeat steps 1-4 if your playlists are also on the same external or network drive.
Once you've selected the folder, click Apply in the Logitech Media Server Control Panel.
If Logitech Media Server doesn't automatically begin to scan the folder for media, go to the Status tab and, in the Media Scan Details section, click Rescan.
Windows Home Server
Connect your external drive to your Windows Home Server Machine (see your operating system or computer documentation for help.)
NOTE: If you're connecting to a network or shared drive/folder, make sure you've already mapped to this drive or folder before moving on.
Open the Windows Home Server Console and log in to Windows Home Server (see your Windows Home Server documentation for help).
Once you've logged in, click Settings.
On the left side, click Logitech Media Server.
In the window on the right, click the Library tab.
In the Media Source section under Media Folders, click the Add button. This should display a Browse For Folder window.
In the Browse For Folder window, locate the external or network drive, or the subfolder within it that you want to connect to, and then click OK.
Repeat steps 6 and 7 if your playlists are also on the same external or network drive.
Click Apply to confirm the settings.
Click OK to close the console.
If Logitech Media Server doesn't automatically begin to scan the folder for media, go to the Status tab and, in the Media Scan Details section, click Rescan.
Macintosh
Connect your external drive to your computer. (See your operating system and computer support documentation for more help.)
NOTE: If you're connecting to a network or shared drive/folder, make sure you've already mapped to this drive or folder before moving on.
Go to System Preferences and open Logitech Media Server.
Click the Library tab.
In the Media Source section under Media Folders, click the Add button. This will display a window where you can select the external or networked drive/folder.
Select the external or network drive, or the subfolder within it that you want to connect to, and then click Open.
Repeat steps 2-5 if your playlists are also on the same external or network drive.
Click the Advanced tab.
In the Media Library Scan section, select Clear Library and rescan everything from the drop-down menu, and then click Rescan.
