Squeezebox and Transporter uses Squeezebox Server software. To perform a clean install of Squeezebox Server, please select your operating system:
Windows 7 / XP / Vista
Remove existing software
Open Control Panel and select either:
- Add and Remove Programs (Windows XP)
- Programs and Features (Windows Vista and Windows 7)
Uninstall Logitech Media Server:
- For Windows XP, select Logitech Media Server, and then click Remove.
- For Windows Vista and 7, select Logitech Media Server, and then click Uninstall.
You may be prompted to confirm the un-install. If so, click Yes.
You'll be prompted to delete preference and log files. Click Yes to make sure the next installation will be clean of any old preferences.
You may see a dialog box pop up saying not all files and folders were removed from the previous installation. You'll need to locate these files and folders manually.
TIP: You can search for the following keywords within Windows to locate any files and folders that weren't removed by the installation.
- Squeezebox
- SqueezeCenter (for older installations)
- Slimserver (for older installations)
Install new software
Get the latest version of Logitech Media Server from the Downloads page.
Run the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.
On the final window, click Finish and the Logitech Media Server Control Panel will come up.
Now, you need to set up your Media Library name, Media folder locations, and MySqueezebox.Com account.
Go to the Library tab and set your:
- Media Library name
- Media folder locations
- Playlist folder location
- iTunes settings
Go to the Account tab to enter your MySqueezebox.Com account credentials.
Windows Home Server
Remove existing software
Open the Windows Home Server Console and log in to Windows Home Server. (See your Windows Home Server support documentation for help).
Once you're logged in to the Windows Home Server console, click Settings.
In the left pane, click Logitech Media Server.
On the Status tab, under Startup Options, click Stop Logitech Media Server.
Once the Logitech Medias Server is stopped, go to the Advanced tab. Under the Cleanup section, select the check boxes for:
- "Delete preference files"
- "Clean cache folder, including music database, artwork cache etc."
Then, click Run Cleanup.
In the left pane, click Add-ins.
In the right window, click the Installed tab, find Logitech Media Server, and then click Uninstall.
Once the uninstall is complete, a dialog box will display confirming the software has been uninstalled and Windows Home Server will need to restart. Click OK.
Install new software
Get the latest version of Logitech Media Server for Windows Home Server from the Downloads page.
Open the Windows Home Server Console and log in to Windows Home Server. (See your Windows Home Server support documentation for help).
Once you're logged in to the Windows Home Server console, click Shared Folders.
Locate the Shared Folders for Software, select it and click Open. This will open a new Windows shared/network folder.
Open the Add-ins folder and move or copy the latest version of Logitech Media Server for Windows Home Server that was downloaded in step one into this folder. Once the file is copied, close this window.
Go back to the Windows Home Server console and click Settings.
In the left pane, click Add-ins.
In the right window, click the Available tab. Find Logitech Media Server and click Install.
Once the installation is complete, a dialog box will display confirming the software has been installed successfully and Windows Home Server will need to restart. Click OK.
Now, you need to set your Media Library name, Media folder locations, and MySqueezebox.Com account.
