The V550 is designed for people who attend multiple meetings in a fast moving working environment. The dock lock included with this mouse allows the user to attach the mouse on their notebook cover when moving from one meeting location to the other.
This article discusses the installation procedure for attaching the dock lock to a notebook cover. Included are instructions for removing the dock lock from a notebook cover. Please note that laptops with a soft rubber exterior tend to collect oils and thus might require you to follow procedures designed for maximum bonding.
For a typical dock installation without the use of the alchohol wipes:
- Choose the location on your notebook cover to attach the dock lock. Do not choose a location on the sides or corners of the notebook, or in the center of the notebook cover where your arm typically rests while carry the notebook. See the image below.
- Make sure that the surface is clean and completely dry
NOTE: The alcohol wipes are used exclusively to prepare dirty or worn notebook surfaces for maximum bonding between the dock and notebook. Before using the wipes and installing the dock, please follow the procedures for maximum bonding instead of this typical dock installation.
- Remove the tab from the dock-lock.
- Press the dock-lock onto the cleaned area and keep pressing it firmly in place with your thumb for at least 30 seconds. This will ensure a proper initial fixing of the dock-lock onto the notebook cover.
- Allow the dock-lock to set up for a minimum of 3 minutes prior to using it.
Upon completion of the 3 minute setup period, the dock lock is now ready for use.

- Slide the mouse onto the dock-lock as shown
NOTE: If the V550 mouse is switched ON prior to being docked, the mouse will be automatically switch OFF.
- To remove the mouse from the dock-lock, slide the mouse off of the dock-lock. The mouse will automatically return to its power state prior to being docked. If the mouse was ON when docked, it will again switch back ON when removed from the dock-lock. If the mouse was switched OFF prior to being docked, the mouse will need to be switched ON manually via the ON/OFF button on the underside of the mouse.
Warning: DO NOT leave the mouse docked to your notebook when you pack it in a notebook carrying bag. This can cause the dock lock to detach from your notebook cover. If detached, the dock lock cannot be used again.
