Hi there   Thanks so much for replying. I should have mentioned that the computer is running XP. Actually we have tried on two different computers, both running XP.   The software installs, no problem, gets to the stage where you are prompted to attach the camera to the USB port. I do this and Windows reports finding new hardware. A window pops up asking to search for the driver. I try that.... look at the CD drive is also checked. It goes away... does its thing... but comes back to say the driver could not be found. So, I try browsing for different folders into which the software installation had taken place, but still it says it was unable to find the driver. However, it does not actually tell me what the filename that it wants is, or I could go look for it myself. However, the logitech subdirectory has quite a number of .inf files... none of which it appears to like. Same thing while pointing at the various directories on the CD with the original inf files.   Do you think it is a problem with the camera itself?   Thanks and regards FPB

The setupapi.log that you provided is identifying this camera as USB\VID_046D&PID_08F4. \r\n \r\nThis is not a Logitech identification number, but a Labtec one. \r\n \r\n \r\nI can tell you that this USB\VID ID is supported by Labtec WebCam software version 6.0.4, but there *may* be something newer available. \r\n \r\n \r\nPlease contact Labtec Support for further assistance with this camera. \r\n \r\n \r\nThanks.

Hi there!   I'm a bit confused now. Why is it reporting as a Labtec camera when the original manual says it is a Logitech QuiCam communicate camera. I checked the Labtec website and the cameras shown on there don't look the same as this one... however the cameras on the Logitech website match it perfectly.   Maybe the problem is that windows is reporting the device ID incorrectly and that is the whole problem?   Kind regards

Thank you!! You're a genius!   I downloaded the Labtec software you mentioned, and that does have the correct drivers.   I still don't understand what the relationship between Logitech and Labtec is, given that the camera has Logitec stamped on it but the software drivers and the device ID belong to some other company!  I find that very weird.   Anyway, merci beaucoup for all your help.   Kind regards
