Exposure is reset with C930c webcam and Directshow tools
AnsweredI am using the GraphEdit tool from Microsoft Windows 10 SDK with Logitech C930c webcam (GraphEdit is an utility for Windows SDK to test Directshow with cameras. You can find more details about it here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/directshow/using-graphedit). The issue I am seeing is the Exposure setting is reset every time I started capturing video (or a new preview). The original Exposure setting is overwritten without notification. It seems the reset only happened with the Exposure setting and no other properties. I also tried the camera with the AmCap utility from Microsoft (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/directshow/amcap-sample). I saw the same issue with C930c webcam. I also tried with a Logitech C925e webcam. I did not see such Exposure reset with these tools.
In my workflow I need to configure the camera settings (like Exposure and Focus) through preview, before recording the video. It becomes impossible to record video with proper Exposure, because the Exposure value is reset at every video capture.
Is this a known issue? Is it because of some design choice of the Logitech firmware for this webcam? The firmware on my C930c camera has been updated to the latest version (8.0.929) through LogiTune. Do you have any suggestion how we could workaround this issue?

Hi Ming,
For every camera supported by Logi Tune, all camera settings are persistent after a restart or unplug/replug. Logi Tune will remember the settings and if you replug your camera, your settings will be reapplied. As long as Tune is running, the app should reapply all settings upon restart/replug.
Please download Logi Tune Software from the below link to customize the settings of the webcam.
