NOTE: The example used in this article is a D-Link DI-634 M router. However, the steps necessary for configuring other D-Link routers are similar. For further details consult your router documentation.

To configure your D-Link router, you may need to do the following:

• Log into router
• Configure basic settings
• Configure wireless security
• Configure wireless MAC address filtering
• Upgrade router firmware

Log into router:

To log into your D-Link router, do the following:

1. Launch your Web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, etc).

2. Enter the IP address of your router as shown in the screenshot below:.

   NOTE: The default IP address is usually http://192.168.0.1

   

3. Enter your router username and password as shown below, then click Log In.

   NOTE: The default name is usually Admin. The password is left blank.

   

Configure basic settings:

The Wireless > Home tab (shown below) is where you can configure the following settings:

• Wireless Mode On/Off
• Wireless Network Mode
• Wireless Network Name
• Wireless Channel
• SSID Broadcasting

Wireless Mode On/Off:

If wireless mode is turned off, the router is not available to wireless devices. You need to turn on wireless mode in order to connect your Squeezebox Touch to the router. Click Wireless Radio On radio button as shown below:.

Wireless Network Mode:

Determines the speed of your wireless network. Logitech recommends selecting the following:

• Super G field: Super G without Turbo
• Transmission Rate: Auto
• 802.11g Only Mode: Enabled

Wireless Network Name:

You will need to know the wireless network name (SSID) in order to configure your Squeezebox Touch. The network name is shown below:

NOTE: The default network name is D-Link. For security, we recommend changing it.

Wireless Channel:

If there are multiple wireless devices (such as telephones) around your Squeezebox or router, you may need to change the router’s wireless channel to prevent interference. To allow the router to automatically choose the channel, check Auto Channel Select as shown below:

To manually change the channel, uncheck the Auto Channel Select and choose a channel from the drop-down menu.

SSID Broadcasting:

You will need to either manually enter the SSID into your Squeezebox Touch or enable your router for SSID broadcasting. To enable SSID broadcasting, check SSID Broadcast Enabled as shown below:

NOTE: Enabling SSID broadcasting can make it easier for hostile entry of your wireless network.

Configure wireless security:

You will need to select the type of wireless security you will use for your router and Squeezebox Touch. To select your wireless security, do the following:

1. Click Home > Wireless as shown below:

   

2. Go to the Security Mode section.

3. Choose the form of wireless security you wish to use. There are two types of wireless security that are compatible with the Squeezebox Touch. These are:

   • WEP
   • WPA-PSK

   NOTE: Please see your router documentation for instructions on configuring your router’s wireless security.

Configure wireless MAC address filtering:

For an extra layer of security, you may have MAC address filtering enabled. This restricts wireless network access to devices on the list.

MAC Filtering:

To filter by device MAC address, do the following:

1. Check the MAC Filters checkbox as shown below:

   

2. Enter the name of your Squeezebox Touch and the MAC address as shown below:

   

3. Click Apply.

Upgrade router firmware:

You should always have the latest firmware for your router. To verify your firmware version, do the following:

1. Select Firmware > Tools (shown below):

   

2. The router firmware version will display.

3. Go to the D-Link website to verify that you have the latest version and to upgrade your firmware if necessary.
