To resolve this issue, do the following:
-
Make sure your mouse has fresh batteries. Low or dead batteries can affect cursor movements.
-
Turn off your M305 mouse and try cleaning your mouse sensor (shown below) with a soft cloth or a Q-tip.

-
Use a mouse pad and avoid using your mouse on:
- Glass or other see-through surfaces.
- Reflective surface such as a mirror or metal desk.
- Wood grains and grooved surfaces.
-
Relocate the receiver to a different location or move your mouse closer to the receiver. Also see Knowledge Base article 360023384753.
-
The erratic movement may be caused by software. If the cursor speed is set too fast, the cursor can move so fast it will appear erratic. To change your cursor speed to a lower setting, please see Knowledge Base article 360023384753 for Windows and Knowledge Base article 360023384753 for Mac.
