Logitech Alert Cameras use Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology. They can be used with PoE Routers, Switches, or Power Injectors meeting the PoE IEEE 802.3af 48V Standard. For the Alert Outdoor Cameras, the PoE networking device's PoE ports must have an output of at least 7 Watts.
Your PoE Router, Switch, or Power Injector needs to meet these requirements:
-
Power over Ethernet (PoE) Router, Switch, or Power Injector meeting the PoE IEEE 802.3af 48V Standard. For the Alert Outdoor Cameras, the PoE networking device's PoE ports must have an output of at least 7 Watts.
-
DHCP Server on the network issuing IP addresses to network devices
-
Standard Cat 5 Ethernet cable or higher (provided with cameras).
NOTE: In order to maintain weather resistance in our outdoor camera and power supply, you must use the flat Ethernet cable we provide. Standard round Ethernet cabling won't allow the camera or power supply to be sealed properly.
-
UPnP protocols active/enabled in the network
-
Windows-based PC (XP SP3, Vista, Windows 7)
-
Logitech Alert Commander software
NOTE: Some routers, switches or other networking security devices may not allow PoE or data transmissions by default and may need to be configured. See the documentation for the specific device for more information about how to configure it for PoE.
