Logitech Alert Cameras use Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology. If you're using a PoE Router, Switch, or Power Injector to power your cameras, these requirements must be met:
-
PoE Router, Switch, or Power Injector that adheres to the PoE IEEE 802.3af 48V Standard
NOTE: For Alert Outdoor cameras, the PoE networking device's PoE ports must have an output of at least 7 Watts.
-
DHCP Server on the network issuing IP addresses to network devices
-
Standard Cat 5 Ethernet cable or higher (provided with cameras)
-
UPnP protocols active/enabled in the network
-
Windows-based PC (XP SP3, Vista, Windows 7)
-
Logitech Alert Commander software
If your environment meets the above requirements and you're having problems detecting your camera, try the following:
-
Hard reset the Alert Cameras, disconnect them from the PoE networking device, and then reconnect them. (For help with how to hard reset, see the user documentation for your Alert Cameras.)
-
Make sure the Alert Cameras are connected to PoE ports in your PoE networking device.
-
Remove the power from your PoE networking device, wait 30-45 seconds, and reconnect the power.
-
Verify the DHCP Server on the network is up and issuing IP addresses. Power-cycle the router or DHCP server if necessary.
-
Ensure UPnP protocols are active/enabled on the network. (For help, see your router's user documentation or contact that company's support department.)
-
Disconnect power from your Alert Camera, remove the MicroSD card, and put it back in. Then, reconnect your camera. You might also try using the MicroSD adaptor that came with your Alert Camera to insert the MicroSD Card into an SD Card slot on your computer (if it has one), copying the files to the local computer (if applicable), and reformatting it.
IMPORTANT: This will erase all data from the SD Card.
-
Turn off any MAC filtering in your router firewall or network security device. If this fixes the issue, re-enable MAC Filtering, and add the MAC address(s) of your cameras to your MAC Filter. (For help, see your device's user documentation or contact that company's support department.)
-
Verify Alert Commander is up and running on a computer in your network. Reboot if necessary.
-
Verify the computer running Alert Commander has its software firewall or security software configured properly. (For help, see the software's user documentation or contact that company's support department.)
-
Disable any firewall or security software on the computer running Alert Commander. NOTE: Disabling this type of software may not stop it from controlling network traffic. You may need to uninstall it. If this fixes the issue, reinstall the software and configure it to allow Alert Commander as an approved application. (For help, see the software's user documentation or contact that company's support department.)
-
Re-verify that your PoE networking device meets the PoE IEEE 802.3af 48V standard and is configured properly. For the Alert Outdoor cameras, the PoE networking device's PoE ports must have an output of at least 7 Watts. (For help with verifying these requirements, see your device's user documentation or contact that company's support department.)
Power-cycling all devices
If performing the above actions doesn't help, try power-cycling all devices on the network in the order that follows.
NOTE:Performing the steps below will cause all devices on the network to lose connectivity for a short time.
Disconnnecting
-
Disconnect power from the router.
-
Disconnect power from the PoE Switch or Power Injector (if applicable).
-
Disconnect the Alert camera(s) from the PoE device.
-
Turn off the computer running Alert Commander.
Reconnecting
-
Reconnect power to the Router, wait 45 seconds.
-
Reconnect power to the PoE Switch or Power Injector (if applicable), wait 45 seconds.
-
Restart the computer running Alert Commander and start Alert Commander (if applicable).
-
Reconnect the camera(s) to a PoE port in your PoE networking device.
After you reconnect everything, wait about 90 seconds to give the Alert Cameras time to reboot and Alert Commander a chance to find them. If the cameras aren't detected, hard reset any that are having issues. The cameras should now be detected.
