Squeezebox Touch contains a built-in server (internal Touch server) which is separate from the Squeezebox Server software. If you are experiencing problems with the internal Touch server, please choose your issue below:
- Supported SD card and USB drive file system formats
- Unable to connect to Music Library when using a SD card or USB drive
- Internal Squeezebox Server not completing music scan
- Local Music Service Stopped Error
- Eject Option Missing from Home Menu even when device is attached
- SD Card or USB Drive Removed Improperly
- Switching between SD Cards and USB drives as a music sources
Supported SD card and USB drive file system formats:
You will see the following message if you insert a SD card or attach a USB drive that is formatted with an unsupported file system format.
The Squeezebox Touch only supports SD cards or USB drives formatted in FAT16, FAT32, NTFS, ext2, and ext3.
NOTE: If you see the above message after re-inserting a SD card or USB drive that was improperly removed, the data on the device may be damaged. Contact the device manufacturer for assistance on resolving the issue.
Unable to connect to Music Library when using a SD card or USB drive:
NOTE: Although the below screen shots are for SD cards, the steps are identical when using a USB drive
Sometimes the internal Touch server stops unexpectedly, and without warning. If the internal Touch server is stopped, and you are using a SD card or USB drive as your music source, you will see the following message.
If you see the above message, you may need to start the internal Touch server. To manually start the internal Touch server, do the following:

Go to Settings:

Go to Advanced:
-
Go to Squeezebox Server:
-
Choose Start Squeezebox Server:
-
You will see a message that the Squeezebox Server is starting.

After the Squeezebox Server is started you will see the following screen. Press and hold the left arrow key on the top right to get back to the Squeezebox Touch home menu.
-
You should now be able to access My Music and your Music Library.
Internal Squeezebox Server not completing music scan:
If after attaching a SD card or USB drive to the Squeezebox Touch and the internal Touch server does not complete scanning your music, this may mean that the SD card or USB drive is too full.
The Squeezebox Touch may get stuck on the following screen:
NOTE: Although the above screen shot is for the Discovering Files screen, this behavior may also occur on any screen during the SD Card or USB drive initialization process
WARNING: You must at least have 1% of free space on the SD Card or USB drive for the internal Touch server to run.
To fix this issue, you must free space on the SD card or USB drive.
Local Music Server Stopped Error:
Sometimes, the internal Touch server stops unexpectedly, and you will see the following error:
To fix this issue, do the following:

Eject the SD card or remove the USB drive
-
Remove the power adaptor from the Squeezebox Touch
-
Re-attach the power to the Squeezebox Touch, and wait until it gets to the home screen.

Reinsert the SD Card or reattach the USB drive. The internal Touch server will restart, and start scanning for music.

Eject Option Missing from Home Menu even when device is attached:
If the Home Menu does not have an option to Eject the SD card or USB drive, the device was never seen by Squeezebox Touch. If you experience this issue, do the following:

Eject the SD card or remove the USB drive

Remove the power adaptor from the Squeezebox Touch
-
Re-attach the power to the Squeezebox Touch, and wait until it gets to the home screen.

Reinsert the SD Card or reattach the USB drive. The internal Touch server will restart, and start scanning for music.

SD Card or USB Drive Removed Improperly:
In the event a SD card or USB drive is removed improperly, you will see the following screen:
If you see the above screen, click OK.
To correct this issue, you may need to clear the existing internal Touch server database. To do clear this database, do the following:

Go to Settings:

Go to Advanced:
-
Go to Squeezebox Server:
-
Choose Wipe and rescan:
-
You will see the following screen confirming you want to clear the database. Choose Cancel to go back to the previous screen, or choose Wipe and rescan to continue:

If you choose Wipe and rescan, you will see the following screen:
-
Once this is complete, will see a message that the Squeezebox Server is starting:

If you have not reinserted your SD card or reattached your USB drive, you may do so, and the internal Touch server will restart, and start scanning your music, or click OK to go back to the previous menu:

You should now be able to access My Music and your Music Library.

Switching between SD Card and USB drives as a music source:
In the event that you have music stored on a SD card and USB drive and both are attached to the Squeezebox Touch, and are having problems switching between the two storage devices, you must stop and restart the internal Squeezebox Server. To try this, do the following:
Stopping the internal Squeezebox Server:

Go to Settings:
-
Go to Advanced:
-
Go to Squeezebox Server:
-
Choose Stop Squeezebox Server:
-
You will see the following screen confirming you want to stop the Squeezebox Server. Choose Cancel to go back to the previous screen, or choose Stop Squeezebox Server to continue:
Restarting the internal Squeezebox Server:
Once the internal Touch Server is stopped, it will take you back to the Home menu. Do the following to restart the internal Touch server.

Go to Settings:

Go to Advanced:

Go to Squeezebox Server:
-
Choose Start Squeezebox Server:
-
Choose the storage device you want to use as your Music Library:
-
You will see a message that the Squeezebox Server is starting:

After the Squeezebox Server is started you will see the following screen. Press and hold the left arrow key on the top right to get back to the Squeezebox Touch home menu:

You should now be able to access My Music and the music from the new storage device.
