If the microphone on your gaming headset isn't working, here are some things to try:
Make sure the microphone cable (marked with pink and an image of a microphone on the jack) is firmly connected to the microphone input jack of your source device.
If you're connected to a computer, be sure you've properly configured your computer's microphone input settings (see your computer's documentation for more information).
Test your microphone with a different application on your computer, like a basic sound recording program.
Check that your headset's microphone mute switch isn't activated. The mute switch is located on the ear cup of the headset, or on the inline control pod, if there is one.
Try using your headset on a different computer.
