Your A50 X does not require an HDMI 2.1 TV. A50 X is backwards compatible with legacy HDMI versions. However, it is still important to make sure you’re using good-quality cables — we don’t recommend using older cables. If you’re having trouble with video, such as black screens, flickering, or artifacts, try replacing the cables with those that are HDMI 2.1 certified, as they are manufactured and tested to a higher quality standard.
When in doubt, please obtain cables that've been certified by the HDMI forum’s Ultra High-Speed HDMI® Cable Certification Program.

Using the latest generation consoles and A50 X with a non-HDMI 2.1 TV will limit advanced features and capabilities such as 120Hz HDR, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), or Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM).
