This is by design. When connected to a compatible Logitech Direct Drive Wheel base via USB, shift up and shift down on the RS Shifter and Handbrake actuate the same function as the paddle shifters on the PRO wheel; the Digital Handbrake actuates the B/Circle button on the wheel. Re-assigning the paddle shifters will also re-assign the shift up/down on RS Shifter & Handbrake.
In order to assign commands/macros to these functions on the RS Shifter & Handbrake you can connect it directly to a USB port on your PC where it will function as its own device, with its own assignments.
