This tutorial will show you how to use the following features in Logitech's Mouse and Keyboard Software (SetPoint):

• Customizing the programmable keys
• Programming function keys
• Disabling keys
• Customizing display preferences and alerts
• Managing music lists
• Customizing E-Mail and IM notifications

Customizing the programmable keys

Change key assignments, assign keystrokes to one key, and more.

1. Open SetPoint (Start > Programs > Logitech > Mouse and Keyboard > Mouse and Keyboard Settings).

   If you do not have SetPoint installed you can download it on our MX 5000 Downloads Page.

2. Once SetPoint opens, click the My Keyboard tab on the top of the screen. You will see the MX 5000 Keyboard listed on the Select Keyboard drop-down (shown below).

   

3. Select the key you wish to customize under the Select Hot Key field.

   

4. Now select the task you want the keyboard key to perform under Select Task. You can also click Help to find detailed descriptions of these options for your device.

   

   In the example above, we selected the default task for the media player key. Next we need to select a media player.

5. Click on the media player you want to use.

   

6. Click Apply to save your settings. Click OK to exit SetPoint.

Programming function keys

The Function Keys, or F-Keys, are the keys labelled F1 through F12 above the number keys.

Similar to the Programmable Keys (discussed above), the F-Keys can also be programmed to perform certain functions. You can do this by simultaneously pressing the FN key (located between the right CTRL and ALT key next to the spacebar) and an F-Key.

1. Open SetPoint and click the My Keyboard tab on the top of the screen and select the Keyboard F Key Settings tab on the left (shown below).

   

2. Select the key you wish to customize under the Select F Key field.

   

3. Now select the task you want the keyboard key to perform under Select Task. You can also click Help to find detailed descriptions of these options for your device.

   

   In the example above we selected open web page. Next we need to specify which page we want the Help key to open. Enter the web page in the location field.

   

4. Click Apply to save your settings. Click OK to exit SetPoint.

Disabling keys

You can disable keys you don’t use.

1. Open SetPoint and click the My Keyboard tab at the top of the window and select the Keyboard Inactive Key Settings tab on the left side (shown below).

   

2. Use the checkboxes to disable the options given. Click the Help button for definitions to these options.

3. Click Apply to save your settings. Click OK to exit SetPoint.

Customizing display preferences and alerts

You can customize your keyboard preferences, audio alerts and display settings.

1. Open SetPoint and click the My Keyboard tab at the top of the window and select the Keyboard Preferences tab on the left side (shown below).

   

2. Use the check boxes and options to select the keyboard settings and alerts that are right for you. You can also click “Help” to find detailed descriptions of these options for your device.

3. Click Apply to save your settings. Click OK to exit SetPoint.

Managing music lists

You can manage your music playlists and radio stations that are displayed on your LCD Digital Display.

1. Open SetPoint and click the My Keyboard tab on the top of the screen and select the Music List Management tab on the left (shown below).

   

2. Use the drop down menus and options to manage the playlists and radio stations for your LCD display. Click Help to find detailed descriptions of these options.

3. Click Apply to save your settings. Click OK to exit SetPoint.

Customizing E-Mail and IM notifications

Change E-mail and IM notifications preferences and use buddy list to filter notifications.

1. Open SetPoint and click the My Keyboard tab on the top of the screen and select the Keyboard Notifications Settings tab on the left (shown below).

   

2. Use the check boxes to change E-Mail and IM notification settings. You can also click “Help” to find detailed descriptions of these options for your device.

3. Click Apply to save your settings. Click OK to exit SetPoint.
