Audio/Video (AV) receivers can control the picture and sound for your home entertainment system. When you set up Harmony activities, you can select your AV receiver to control both the picture and the sound, or the sound without the picture.
NOTE: Even though you have an AV receiver in your account, you don't have to select it to control either the sound or the picture for an activity.
Connection types and inputs
There are several types of connections (ex. component, HDMI, coaxial and optical) to plug your devices into an AV receiver. The important thing to note when you're setting up your activities is in the default name used on the AV receiver, not the connection type. For example, AV receivers can have names such as BD, SAT, DVD for the inputs that connect to the Blu-ray player, cable box, and DVD player.
Check which inputs are used for each device connected to your AV receiver. The way your system is wired will determine which settings you select when you configure your activities. You can use your original remotes to test which inputs your devices are on for an activity. See answer 360023250254 for more information on inputs.
