Proper placement of your hub and mini blaster is important to make sure your devices respond to your remote. Harmony Smart Control controls your devices using infrared (IR) from the hub and mini blaster. Infrared requires direct line of sight to the devices you're trying to control.
NOTE: The Harmony Smart Control remote and Harmony app communicate with the hub using radio frequency (RF) commands, and don't require a direct line of sight to the hub to work.
Here are some tips for the best placement of your Harmony Smart Control components:
-
Place your hub and mini blaster on different shelves where they're in line with the front of your entertainment devices.
-
Put the hub on top of a device facing toward the front of the cabinet.
-
Set the mini blaster on the shelf in front of the device or nearby.
-
Bounce IR signals to devices off of the cabinet door and walls.
-
Make sure you have a mini blaster outside the cabinet to control your TV.
NOTE: The Harmony Smart Control remote doesn't communicate through IR. The remote sends RF signals to the hub, and the hub and mini blaster send IR signals to your home entertainment devices.
