If your TV uses a toggle-input switching-method to switch inputs (pressing one button on the original remote cycles through the inputs one by one), the Harmony app needs to know how long your TV takes to switch between inputs.
Input delay is the amount of time your Harmony waits between sending input commands. If the input delay is too short, your TV won't respond to each input command sent, and will stop before arriving at the correct input. A device can have an input delay between 0-5000 ms.
For example, a TV has the following inputs:
- Antenna+
- Video1 (DVD player)
- Video2
- HDMI 1
- HDMI 2 (Satellite receiver)
A DVD player is connected to the TV on Video1 and a Satellite receiver on HDMI 2. To switch from watching a movie on your DVD player to watching TV with your satellite receiver, you'd need to press the Input button on your original remote three times. If the Input Delay is too short, your Harmony app will send the correct number of input commands, but too quickly. Instead of reaching HDMI 2, the TV might stop at HDMI 1.
