When you first add a device, My Harmony assigns the commands for that device to the appropriate buttons on your Harmony remote. But some devices may have commands or actions that don’t have an obvious button assignment. From My Harmony, you can assign one of those commands to a button of your choice.
To change or fix what a button does, go to the Buttons page and click Change or fix what a button does. Select the device from the drop-down list that you want to change or fix buttons for, and click Go. A window will appear showing the current assignments for the device you selected.
To assign a command to a button:
- In the Commands for this device list, scroll down and find the command you want to use.
- Click and hold the command.
- Drag the command over to desired button on the picture of the remote, and then drop it.
- To make sure you assigned the right command, hover over the button and see what command is assigned to it.
At any time, you can hover over a button on the picture of the remote to see what command is currently assigned.
To change which device is assigned to a device button (the ones labeled TV, CABLE, and DVD), hover over the device button within the image of the Harmony remote then click Setup. From the window that appears, you can drag and drop devices from one device button to another.
To change which device controls the volume within each device mode, hover over one of the volume buttons within the image of the remote then click Setup. From the window that appears, choose the device for each mode.
If you can’t find the command you want in the Commands for this device list, it might be listed under another name. Here’s a list of some common commands and alternate names.
