If temporarily turning off your computer firewall helps Squeezebox Duet connect to SqueezeCenter, then you will need to configure your computer firewall. Please select your operating system:

Open System Preferences > Sharing, and click 'Firewall'.

Click 'New...' to create a new rule.

For Port Name specify 'Other'.

For TCP Port Number(s) input 3483 and 9000.

For UDP Port Number(s) input 3483.

For Description, specify 'SqueezeCenter'.

Click OK, and ensure that your new exception is checked on.

Open System Preferences > Security and click ‘Firewall’.

Click ‘Set Access for specific services and applications’.

Click ‘Show All’ at the top to view all your preferences, and then click SqueezeCenter.

If your server is currently running, click ‘Stop Server’.

Next, click ‘Start Server’.

You will get a series of confirmations from your firewall asking if you want to allow access. Click ‘Allow’ for each. (The dialogs will refer to ‘perl’ and ‘mDNSResponderPosix’)
NOTE: Make sure the box for ‘Don’t allow exceptions’ is unchecked in the firewall control panel, otherwise the connection between player and server is not possible.

Go to Control Panel.

Click Security Center.

Click Windows Firewall under ‘Manage security settings for:’.

Click the Exceptions tab.

Click ‘Add Port’ and add an exception for these three ports:
- Name: SqueezeCenter Discovery - Port number: 3483 - Protocol: UDP
- Name: SqueezeCenter Control - Port number: 3483 - Protocol: TCP
- Name: SqueezeCenter Web - Port Number: 9000 - Protocol: TCP

Click ‘Add Program’ then click ‘Browse’ and add squeezecenter.exe. The default location is C:\Program Files\SqueezeCenter\server\.
