The Xbox 360 uses an optical connection to deliver surround sound to the Z-5500 speakers. If you are not getting surround sound, check the following:

Make sure that your optical cable is firmly connected to the optical port on the Z-5500 control pod and to the Xbox 360.

Check that the Z-5500 control pod is set to the Optical input by pressing the Input button on the front of the control pod and cycling through the selections to Optical.

Check setting on Xbox to ensure that optical/digital output is selected. For information on setting your Xbox 360 output, consult your Xbox 360 documentation.

Make sure that your game actually supports surround sound. If the game does not support it, then the speakers will not deliver surround sound, regardless of your settings on the Z-5500.
