If temporarily turning off your computer firewall helps Squeezebox Radio connect to Squeezebox Server Software, then you will need to configure your computer firewall. Please select your operating system:

• Macintosh OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
• Windows XP
• Windows Vista

NOTE: For Windows 7, Windows Home Server, and Macintosh OS X 10.5 or above, Squeezebox Server automatically configures the built-in firewalls.

Macintosh OS X 10.4 (Tiger)

1. Open System Preferences > Sharing, and click 'Firewall'.

2. Click 'New...' to create a new rule.

3. For Port Name specify 'Other'.

4. For TCP Port Number(s) input 3483 and 9000.

5. For UDP Port Number(s) input 3483.

6. For Description, specify 'Squeezebox Server'.

7. Click OK, and ensure that your new exception is checked on.

Windows XP

NOTE: Make sure the box for ‘Don’t allow exceptions’ is unchecked in the firewall control panel, otherwise the connection between player and server is not possible.

1. Go to Control Panel.

2. Click Security Center.

3. Click Windows Firewall under ‘Manage security settings for:’.

4. Click the Exceptions tab.

5. Click ‘Add Port’ and add an exception for these three ports:

   • Name: Squeezebox Server Discovery - Port number: 3483 - Protocol: UDP
   • Name: Squeezebox Server Control - Port number: 3483 - Protocol: TCP
   • Name: Squeezebox Server Web - Port Number: 9000 - Protocol: TCP

6. Click ‘Add Program’ then click ‘Browse’ and add Squeezebox Server.exe. The default location is C:\Program Files\Squeezebox\server\.

Windows Vista

NOTE: Make sure the box for ‘Block All Incoming Connections’ is unchecked in the firewall control panel, otherwise the connection between player and server is not possible.

1. Go to Control Panel.

2. Click Security Center.

3. Click Windows Firewall on the left, then click ‘Change Settings’. If a dialog appears asking to confirm, click ‘Continue’.

4. Click the Exceptions tab.

5. Click ‘Add Port’ and add an exception for these three ports:

   • Name: Squeezebox Server Discovery - Port number: 3483 - Protocol: UDP
   • Name: Squeezebox Server Control - Port number: 3483 - Protocol: TCP
   • Name: Squeezebox Server Web - Port Number: 9000 - Protocol: TCP

6. Click ‘Add Program’ then click ‘Browse’ and add SqueezeSvr.exe. The default location is C:\Program Files\Squeezebox\server\.
