Mouse isn't working
If your mouse isn't working, the problem is likely a lost connection. The connection can be lost for several reasons, such as:
- Low batteries
- Radio frequency (RF) interference from more powerful devices, such as:
- Wireless speakers
- Computer power supplies
- Monitors
- Cell phones
- Garage door openers
Before connecting your mouse
Before connecting your mouse to a Mac computer:
-
Fix or rule out the potential problems listed above.
-
Turn your computer on.
-
Insert fresh batteries into your mouse (see answer 360023242254 for help).
-
Turn your mouse on. The power indicator on top should be blue.
-
If the power indicator is not lit, move the power switch on the bottom of the mouse to the ON position. The power indicator should turn blue.
Reconnecting your mouse
To reconnect your mouse to your Mac using Bluetooth:
-
From the Apple menu, select System Preferences.
-
From the View menu, select Bluetooth.
-
In Bluetooth preferences, make sure ON is selected.
-
Click Setup new device or the "+" button near the lower left corner of the Bluetooth preferences window, if you already have an existing Bluetooth device connected.
-
Press the Bluetooth connect button on the bottom of the mouse to enter discovery mode. The blue LED on top of the mouse blinks while the mouse is in discovery mode.
-
Once the mouse has been detected, it will be displayed in the Bluetooth Setup Assistant window. Highlight it, and then click Continue.
-
When the mouse is connected, you'll see the following window:
NOTE: If you're prompted for a passkey, enter 0000.
If this solution doesn't work after a couple of attempts, restart your computer, remove the mouse from the list if necessary, and then try reconnecting again.
To remove a Bluetooth device from your Mac:
- Highlight the device, click on the "-" at lower left corner, and then click Remove.
Mouse frequently stops working
If your mouse frequently stops working and you keep having to reconnect it, try these suggestions:
-
Keep other electrical devices at least 8 inches (20 cm) away from the system
-
Move the mouse closer to the computer
