If the cursor isn't following the movements of your MX5500 mouse, we suggest that you:.

Use a mouse pad.

Avoid using your mouse on:
- Glass or other see-through surfaces
- Reflective surface such as mirrors and metal desks

Wood grains and grooved surfaces

Try the mouse on a piece of white paper to make sure it isn't a tracking issue on the particular surface you're using.

If the above steps do not solve your erratic cursor movement, the erratic movement may be caused by software.
If the cursor speed is set too fast, the cursor can move so quickly that it will appear erratic. This can be fixed by adjusting the mouse settings in SetPoint. See article 20509.
