What type of storage media is used with the Alert Security System cameras?

The B700i indoor camera is designed to use a microSD card for video storage.

Is there a microSD card included with the camera?

Yes. Each camera kit includes a preinstalled 2 GB microSD card.

How much video can be recorded onto the 2 GB microSD card?

Roughly one week of storage on 2 GB card. This is based on the amount of motion and audio captured / recorded for typical home location (front door, back door, etc.).

Can the 2 GB card be replaced with a larger size?

Yes. The camera will support up to a 32 GB micro SDHC card.

If the SD card is replaced or upgraded, will it require formatting?

Yes. The Alert Commander software provides a utility to allow you to format your new microSD card.

What video file format is recorded to the microSD card?

Video format is .mp4 using H.264 compression.

Can the card be removed and video viewed on my computer?

Yes. Your kit includes a micro to standard SD card adapter, allowing the card to be read in a standard SD card reader. To access the videos on your computer, follow the diagram below.
