What is new in this release and why should people upgrade?

• It's all about HD.
• Updated and enhanced presentation.
• New tool for users to create own video mask.
• Complete redesign User Interface

Installation Notes:

• With only one driver package being installed, times improved.
• User is presented with a progress bar to help assess how long remaining and status with respect to where are we.
• Check for updates will provide different individual components rather than one large package for the user to decide on.

Application Notes:

• Overall GUI functionality is exactly the same as the earlier LWS 1.X releases; however, the presentation has been re-skinned to provide a more contemporary look and feel.
• It is always strongly suggested to be running with latest supported Service Pack for the current OS in question.
• User will have to become accustomed to where things are located. The UI changes have resulted in various settings and focuses to be spread out amongst the following area: Webcam Controller, Advance Properties (e.g. Driver Property Page), and Preferences.
• Enabling and Disabling Privacy Shade will be found on the Webcam Controller.

Software Features:

• New overall look and feel (e.g. LWS = Logitech Webcam Software). This is another UI upgrade/enhancement above and beyond the LWS 1.X series.
• New installation flow including:
  • Updated Video Client from Logitech -> VID
  • Checking for Skype
  • Ability to customize desired components to install
  • Warning and suggestion for lower end systems
• The UI has been adjusted to spread-out the user related settings and preference to 3 different key areas: Webcam Controller, Advanced Setting (e.g driver property page), and Preferences.
• When streaming and capturing data at HD, user warned of possible issues regarding CPU utilization.
• There is an application store, to download supported/approved Logitech applications.
• The driver property has been enhanced to provide a more professional look and feel when Logitech Drivers installed.
• Additional application provided for users to create their own video masks: Video Mask Maker.
• Application broken out into components: Quick Capture, Motion Detection, and Video Mask Maker.
• Virtual Driver provided so that in situations where customer download from the app store the application Fast Access, the camera will be able to stream to two different places/sources: Fast Access and another sources with our camera (e.g. Video Calling Client, Quick Capture, etc.).
• The app store page provides links to supported or strongly encouraged supporting content.
• VFX will be supported above VGA (640x480). The feature is suspect above VGA but is supported; however, no support at 1080p.
• The Launcher (main page of LWS) provides an easy starting point to navigate and start doing the things the user wants.
• Orbit AF now supports Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) at 640x480 or above resolution.
