After hearing nothing from customer support I decided to take the doorbell out of the housing at my front door. I took it to plug into a micro usb cable and it came back to life. I have since replaced the doorbell to the housing and it is working now. I'm a bit disappointed that the doorbell overheats this early in the spring. I am wondering how it will fare later on in the summer in the suburban Atlanta heat.

I have been fighting my doorbell almost since I installed it two months ago,  I got a good two weeks out of it and every since then I cant go more than 5 days before it starts the cycle of offline-online-offline and rapid succession then after two days of that it goes offline completely.  Mine is installed under a covered porch and receives no direct sunlight. Despite being in constant shade the unit still gets quite warm bordering on hot.  I have installed a wifi extender right by my door and still no improvement.  I’m ready to ask for a refund.  Very disappointed in this product.  When it is working, it is great. But defeats the purpose of having a video doorbell if it continually goes off line and doesn’t record the person walking up to your door

It seems to me that there is a serious problem with this doorbell. I think everyone was excited about having a HomeKit compatible doorbell that didn’t have a monthly fee. Now there are issues that need to be resolved. My doorbell is shaded most of the day as I have a western facing house. However in the late afternoon when the sun is going down, it shines on my front door. What could be the possible workaround for overheating?

Agree. Seems it's a common problem. My doorbell is on a deep covered porch, facing East. We get sun for a short period of time, but then shade the rest of the day. Offline-online-offline-online. Recently upgraded our wifi network to the Orbi 750 which is pretty powerful and covers my 3600 sqft house without issue. I've seen fewer offline/online notices, but they still occur and drives me nuts. Can't figure out if it's heat (not even summer yet) or network.

The tech support people said that the doorbell should be within 15 feet of the router and if you are having that problem to restart your router. I just got a new wifi extender from AT&T and I've had very few offline issues, except for the overheating issue. My front door is covered so the only time the doorbell isn't shaded is when the sun begins to set in the late afternoon. I don't know who thought it would be ok to require the doorbell to be shaded at all times.

Since my last post my doorbell has stopped functioning all together. I have been emailing back and forth with Krista. There is supposed to be a firmware update coming out but for me that won't do any good. I have a $200 non functioning doorbell at this point.

I haven't heard back from Krista since May 26th. I have gone through the resetting of the doorbell, checked the voltage at the door and I still can't get the doorbell to respond.

I'm so very dissapointed. I am trying to get them to give me a replacement unit because the one I have is nonfunctional at this point.
