After hearing nothing from customer support I decided to take the doorbell out of the housing at my front door. I took it to plug into a micro usb cable and it came back to life. I have since replaced the doorbell to the housing and it is working now. I'm a bit disappointed that the doorbell overheats this early in the spring. I am wondering how it will fare later on in the summer in the suburban Atlanta heat.

I have been fighting my doorbell almost since I installed it two months ago,  I got a good two weeks out of it and every since then I cant go more than 5 days before it starts the cycle of offline-online-offline and rapid succession then after two days of that it goes offline completely.  Mine is installed under a covered porch and receives no direct sunlight. Despite being in constant shade the unit still gets quite warm bordering on hot.  I have installed a wifi extender right by my door and still no improvement.  I’m ready to ask for a refund.  Very disappointed in this product.  When it is working, it is great. But defeats the purpose of having a video doorbell if it continually goes off line and doesn’t record the person walking up to your door

It seems to me that there is a serious problem with this doorbell. I think everyone was excited about having a HomeKit compatible doorbell that didn’t have a monthly fee. Now there are issues that need to be resolved. My doorbell is shaded most of the day as I have a western facing house. However in the late afternoon when the sun is going down, it shines on my front door. What could be the possible workaround for overheating?
