turn off circle 2 camera when I'm home

    I have a similar issue...

Use Case 1 - Turn off the cameras when I am home. (I don't want alerts or recording when I am home/in daytime).

I note there is a 'Privacy mode' option, but looks like no way to automate for this use case either through the Logi-Circle app or Apple HomeKit. The only way (I think) you can do this is to buy a Logitec POP and automate this to turn on/off Privacy mode. A bit clunky & requires another hardware purchase. I have not tried this.

The Circle 2 should also work with Alexa, but I note that for security reasons you can only Turn ON your cameras via Alexa & can't turn them OFF, so this is only half a solution too...

Use Case 2: Turn ON my downstairs cameras at night when I am home/in bed. (a kind of simple security system). I have not found any way to automate this via Logi-Circle app or Apple HomeKit.

Maybe I am implementing incorrectly - but if anyone has succeeded in getting either of the above scenarios to work please tell us how you configured it.

If there is no way to do this, the solution will not work for me - I am thinking of returning these...I believe both NEST and ARLO have IFTTT integration which I believe might be more flexible/configurable.

I think the scenarios hectorvs84 & I have outlined are not strange/unusual...? Surely these are fairly common requirements? Is there really no way to do this?

    I FIGURED IT OUT!

so this is what you do: get a Wemo Smart Plug and run the power of the Logi Circle 2 to this switch. Next from the IFTTT app search for Wemo and find the script that turns on/off a Wemo Smart Plug when you arrive/exit a certain area. Set this for your address and the plug to your camera's power. Make sure the you start with the switch in the off position when you are home and then when you leave it will turn on the camera using the last settings the camera had when the camera was on.

    Really?!!

We need another company's device to get what I consider to be basic functionality? Sure hope Logitech adds this key function with a firmware update. Just bought a Circle 2 and am not sure I'm going to keep it.

Joesdomingo: does turning the camera on and off cause any problems with reconnecting to the network and/or Homekit?

    thanks

    Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone found a simpler approach to handle this issue than having to use a smart plug and IFTTT combo. I recently got in contact with Logitech customer support, and wasn't offered any valid solution, so I am stuck as you having to manually switch it on/off whenever I leave/return home. Obviously many times I forget it so it is really inconvenient.

We have opened up our IFTTT integration for public beta testing. You can access the integration here: https://ifttt.com/logitech_circle

    With this integration you can

    • Change settings such as Camera On/Off and Recording Control
    • Initiate a camera recording from an external IFTTT Trigger
    • Initiate an IFTTT Action from the camera(s) recording (started and ended Triggers) with filtering options for camera names, recording type, and activity level.
    • Circle Safe Premium Subscribers can further modify the Triggers with Person Detection and Motion Zones.

Please post any questions, comments or issues about the IFTTT public beta here in the forums.

Thank you very much Logi_Aron. I tested the integration successfully today. Super happy to have this feature!

Out of curiosity: why can't this be part of the Logi Circle app itself?
