False motion alerts - recordings
Circle 2 wireless camera
False motion alerts. Recording. At beginning of recordings, image flashes bright for a few seconds then normal brightness returns. Day recordings only. This is setting off the motion alert dcue to the change in pixels. There is no other motion or noticeable change throughout the rest of the recording. Downstream effect is faster drainage on the battery. I have all wireless battery default settings. Anyone else seen this. Thanks-
The white flashes are not causing your camera to wake up, that is just the image adjusting to the lighting conditions after a wakeup occurs. Wire-Free cameras wake up because motion was detected by the Passive Infrared Sensor (PIR). PIR occurs with moving people, cars, sunlight reflections or other sources. What kind of scene does your camera see? Would you be willing to post an image snapshot?

Was getting flashes during daylight on the yard. Just got 8 hits at night, no flashes, but a brief set of blurred images in the first few seconds of the r cording. Again no motion seen viewing the recording. How do I post an image or the video taken ? The video is the best to view the behavior.

Aron, here is a Dropbox link to the video recording

I don't see anything obvious that is triggering it. The bright pinpoint light on the far left side should be out of view of the PIR sensor. There is a tiny pinpoint light halfway between your deck posts near the top that could be causing it. The "cross-hatch" like pattern on your lawn. Is that coming from a light on your deck above? Is that light on a motion sensor? If so, that turning on could trigger the camera to start.
-
The crosshatch is from an upper deck light that is not motion sensor triggered. The first clip I sent was the last 1 of 6 or 7 clips spaced out about 2-3 minutes, allshowing no signs of motion. Check this 2nd clip out from around noon today, again 1 of many. Didn't see any obvious motion but the bright flash is there. Incidentally when I get valid recordings (ex. a dog), there is no bright flash at the beginnh.

The white flash is just the cameras auto-exposure and white-balance algorithm working. Since your scene has a particularly dark (under deck) and bright section its more pronounced. That is nothing to worry about. We leave this in the video in case something interesting happens in these first few frames.
Its still odd why the PIR sensor is triggering. Can you tilt the camera down a little more so you get less of the deck above and see how that changes things?

Aron, latest clip 8:43pm. No motion, 1 of 4 consecutive clips within 3 minutes or so apart. I’m not sure the PIR sensor is working properly. I will have to shut off recording to extend battery life beyond a short week and a half. Is it time yet to work this as a warranty issue ?

One more test: If you have black electrical tape, place it over the PIR lens. The PIR lens is the small plastic part on the bottom front that is kinda smooth shiny black / dark gray plastic. If you still get recordings with the PIR covered with electrical tape, then you have a faulty PIR sensor.
-
Last test done. PIR sensor covered. I know because I walked in front of camera multiple times, which normally starts a recording. Video below is one of 3 in a row, 2 minutes apart.

Aron, I've tried numerous times to submit warranty claim / open a case (via Safari and Firefox on Macbook Pro). Unfortunately I continue to get the following error when submitting the email to open the case.

Yes, still failing. Just tried the help menu off the Circle App on the iPad, which takes you to a Sari web browser on the iPad. Everything OK until you press the final submit email button, which results in a purple Logitech page that states "OOPS We can't seem to find the page you're looking for." I've submitted a previous case back in July so very fustrating not being able to submit this on....
