Stop activity alerts outside motion zone
-
Hi, thank you for replying.
I am disappointed to hear this. As other users have posted, I fail to understand the purpose of motion zones in that case. My circle overlooks a busy pavement, meaning lots of people. This is why I upgraded to be able to create the motion zone.
Is there a setting, other than person detection, where I only get alerts from inside my motion zone?

You can either:
- Define zones for all areas you don't want to receive alerts. Then in the Smart Alerts -> Activity Filters, just check "Outside defined zones"
- Define zones for all areas you want to receive alerts. Then in the Smart Alerts -> Activity Filters, just check those zones.

Hi @Aron Rosenberg?
Thanks for the suggestions.
I am trying the first one now as the second one has already been proven to not work.
The first one might be working, but receiving the alert notification 'person detected outside motion zone' when really they are in my area of interest is pretty confusing and hard to get used too.
Finally, going back to your first response, you mention selecting people alerts and a motion zone will result in alerts for people ANYWHERE or motion in the selected zone.
What should happen if I select other and a zone?

Checking any of those boxes will result in the restriction being added. If you select both he "outside of zones" and a "<named zone>" checkbox, then you will receive notifications for that "<named zone>" OR "outside of any defined zones". If you further check person, then it would be like "<named zone>" OR "outside of any defined zones" OR <person detected anywhere in video>.
Each option is basically an OR clause being added.

Hi @Aron Rosenberg?
Thanks. This would be ok, EXCEPT, you have to pick at least one detection type, meaning zones really do nothing to filter the person detections alerts. This kind of makes circle useless if pointing at a busy area like a pavement.
To reconfirm - I want to be notified if there is motion ON my drive and not outside (I don't care if it is a person or not). Is this actually a possible configuration or not?

Yes I can 100% say nest works like magic, I have the nest door bells and the motion zones work as they should, it records 24/7 and the image quality is far better. If you pay out a little more for the iq it can recognise people and tell you they’re there. I only bought the circle 2 as I wanted two use google home and apple home kit and I’ve been nothing but disappointed in the logi circle 2.
iv found out after you set your zones create one big one that covers the entire picture, this will stop the out of zone notifications. I still get notifications about about my drive when a car passes on the road but it better than getting notifications all the time even out the zones

Wow, this is BIG problem.
Think im returning these cameras!
Shame, I somewhat like Logitech but this product is a BUST!I mean, its a simple thing.
How about this problem.
Smart Location is useless...So im home (with my phone) and the cameras go off. Good, I down need them recording me.
Then I go to sleep and the cameras are STILL OFF!
Then I get robbed ... my Security camera is not recording because Im home? Seriously?!
Who is designing these things? Obviously not a user.
