Logitech Circle 2 HomeKit Secure Video Support

    Hello Circle2 Home Kit Team,

I integrated my two cameras into the home kit yesterday via firmware update.

Unfortunately, something is wrong with the motion detector.

I get a lot of false messages about detected movements.

In my opinion, when changing from daylight to dusk and usually whenever I call the live picture via the Homekit app.

Here it is about an update to get the motion sensor of the Circle2 in conjunction with the Home Kit better under control.

    I'm curious ;-)

Mine isn’t recording either. I can get notifications for motion and see a live stream but there’s no timeline showing for recordings. My circle glows dark blue and Logitech indicates that a camera set to stream and allow recording will glow red: LED Indicators on Circle 2 (scroll to bottom for Homekit colors)

Mine is set to stream and record. Using an Apple TV 4th gen and have 200 gb iCloud.

Have rebooted Apple TV, Circle, and phone. Have reset Circle, removed from home, and added back. Camera is on 5GHz WiFi. Apple TV is connected via Ethernet.

Other ideas? Just wait for next firmware update or is there more I can do?

From what I've seen on this thread, it might be because your camera was set to stream only before you upgraded to HKSV. You might need to request a firmware downgrade, convert the camera to record via the Circle app, then go back through the upgrade process...

I migrated four cameras to HKSV and all four have the same problems others have reported: No recording, even though settings for Stream/Record are correct and I have a 2TB iCloud plan and everything's fully patched.

Furthermore, the settings for "OFF" don't seem to do anything, so now I have to unplug one camera that used to turn on/off via geofencing.

And the LEDs stay solid blue unless I am actively streaming.

AND, worst of all, the controls for the night vision LED don't work — it comes on when it's dark enough, no matter what the settings say, which renders three of my cameras behind glass useless at night.

I'm about two minutes from requesting the downgrade, but what a drag.

@Logi_Aron I already rebooted HomePods, iPhone and the Camera, erased the cam from the Home App, when it was erased the black box was gone and when I added the cam back the black box appeared again 😳
Should I wait for a new firmware or is there any other suggestion?

Just purchased two Circle 2 in order to enjoy HomeKit Secure Video. Tested one for now.

It worked quite correctly for a couple hours then suddenly, for no reason it could no longer be joined at all and I had to unplug / replug it to get it to work again. As other reported.

    This is a showstopper, guys.

I'll wait for a firmware update for one week or two and see if this is fixed, otherwise I'll return them for good.

For those who suggested submitting a downgrade request and then re-upgrading, there is no need to do that. Resetting and removing from HomeKit does the same thing.

For those having issues with No Recordings, we believe if the LED stays blue (never goes to red when set to Stream + Recording), this is a Home App side issue as the camera never received the instruction to activate recording mode.

    Hello Aron,

No recording for me and the led stay red (no blicking). Motions not detected.

Thank you Logi_Aron. With the belief the “LED stays blue” problem is a Home app side issue, what can we try to resolve the issue? Is it being reported to Apple? Are we just waiting for the next iOS update? Can we provide any information that will help resolve this?

For those with problems with recording, what language is your iOS set to?

    French, tried in English too.

@Chris IOS set to English. Although only 1 of my 4 cameras is not recording apart from after a homhub reboot it may record for couple days max. The other three have been working great apart from the known motion sensor issues.

First, do the developers at Logitech understand the "no recordings" issue? Second, if so, what is the ETA for a firmware update that fixes the issue? Thank you.

Okay, a little new info. Obviously, I did the Homekit Secure Video upgrade and have the steady blue light issue even though the Circle’s setting are set to record video. I opened the Home app for the first time on my iMac since receiving the camera and received the following message:

I reviewed the settings in the Home app in the iMac and it is set to record. I’ve reset the camera multiple times and would love some other ideas. Clearly, some people can record. It seems that there should be some solution.

I've got two cameras one detects and records motion the other does not. If I look at the setting for the motion detector for the camera that isn't recording the 'Status Active' says no. The one that's working says yes. I've removed the camera and added it but it's still the same. The light on the camera pulsates with a red ring when it's set to stream and allow recording.

I have a similar problem with two cameras running fw 8.0.48. Both are somehow converted to secure recording BUT motion detection does not work at all. I guess because of that both cameras do not record anything behind of activating 'Stream & Allow Recording' when Home and Away. Motion notifications are not working as well.

Is this fixable with an firmware upgrade from your end in the near future?

Otherwise I would prefer to downgrade the devices again.

  • I bought the camera some days ago. Yesterday I did finally the setup with the iPhone and activated the secure video but nothing was working except live video, even if everything was correctly set in the camera  settings in home app. Then I opened on the Mac the home app and the system proposed me to activate the recording. I did it and since then the cloud recording is working as a charm.
I hope that this can help.

I've posted in another thread, but I successfully fixed one of my cameras that wasn't detecting motion (and therefore not recording) by removing the camera from the Home, holding down the reset button for 30s and then re-adding it.

When it wasn't working, looking at the settings in the Home app would show the motion sensor as "Inactive".  Once I'd carried out a "hard" reset the motion sensor became active like with my other cameras.

Now if only Logi could fix the overly sensitive motion sensor, that would be grand!

I’m getting issues with the camera randomly turning on night and status light which is useless with a window mount.

I removed the camera from Home that wasn't detecting motion and now have tried re-adding it and it now won't connect. It shows up as an accessory to add but just won't connect even though it was previously able to. Now I've just got the flashing green ring. But it does show up under the settings for wifi 'set up new device' .

Mina was working fine until 5 days ago. It stopped responding. No LED at all. When I try to reset it, while I hold the reset button it starts flashing purple, purple-orange, purple-green then purple-red. but as soon as I release the rest button it turns off again.

I can’t re-add it to my Home app because it just refuses to stay on.

    Any help?

maucarvalho You need the release the reset button when its flashing purple-green, not when it gets to purple-red for a factory reset to occur. Waiting till purple-red causes the camera to do a full cold-reboot, but doesn't wipe data.

Logi_Aron yea, I tried that. I tried releasing while in purple-orange, purple-green and purple-red. On all my tries, as soon as I release the reset button the LED turns off and stays that way. If I disconnect the power plug and connect it again, it flashes yellow for a second and turns off again.

I finally got my other camera connected and working properly. I changed to a different wireless network on my phone because I have an extender and added the camera in the Home app.

The motion detector is working and I am getting notifications.

So I think if your motion detector active status is no. Removing the camera and adding it again does fix the problem.

maucarvalho I had a similar problem on another camera I had. I ended up sending it back and getting a replacement.

I've added my circle 2 to homekit secure video and all looks to be working fine. Notification when a person is detected, streaming and recording. Firmware 8.0.48.
