Has this been resolved?  I use 3 Harmony 720 remotes.  I like the screen and rechargeable battery.  I'm using a Mac and want to update to 10.15 or later.  Do I have to ditch the Harmony Remotes if I want to upgrade since 7.8.1 is 32 bit only?  I see a beta 64 bit app from 9 months ago, but nothing current and this thread indicates there may be bugs.

Harmony Desktop for Mac is 64-bit and works fine on Catalina. It is relatively bug-free but does not have anywhere near the functionality of the previous app and no new features since release. Pathetic support from Logitech. When my remote dies, I will be looking for something from another vendor.

Thanks. I’m going through my 32 bit apps. I like the 720 and would like to stay with them as long as I can. I also understand Logitech’s reticence to pie money in a relatively old remote. I downloaded 7.9.0 so I’ll have it when I upgrade MacOS. Kind of weird that 7.9 won’t work with MacOS 10.14.6. Most other 64 bit apps work with 10.14.

Downloaded the software in the link in the pinned message. Installation halted but upon reset it got through. Can't get it to work, though. 1) what is my username? I may have created a user back in the day but how can I remember that? And I got no confirmation mail. If I press forgot login it asks me to cable the remote to my computer (!) what? Using a cable to the device to get a login?? What about using the nice QR code or serial number or better yet: Just create a darn user account. 2) it repeatedly prompts me to download ANOTHER (!!) piece of software it I wanted to setup my logitech harmony elite...okay...back to square one. It is amazing and let this be a warning to anyone considering a logitech remote (and using Apple/Mac systems): don't buy this. I mean, I am quite happy user and I use the iOS app for most settings...but this seems to be a dead end-technology. Wouldn't buy it again as it doesn't seem to be future proof. Sadly.

I'm still on MacOS 10.14 because of several 32 bit apps, but I also have several Harmony 720 remotes (which I love) that are used on different TV's.  I too have forgotten user names, but apparently it's either in the remote or when the remote contacts the server, I'm able to see the user name that I used with that remote.  That's why they are asking you to plug in the remote.

You mention using the IOS app.  Is there a 'Harmony' type app for the iPhone/iPad?

I hope this helps...I expect that I'll upgrade my MacOS in the next few months, so may be on this forum asking more questions.

well I'm guessing with all the unhappy customers Logitech haven't got an answer, the app doesn't work, cannot reset anything and am now currently left with a £250 brick.

I wanted to come back. I have been owning a Win10 Gaming Machine for 2 months now. Everything is going well. There is a significant difference when any software is running... I'm away from Mac now. The software support of Windows is much better. I miss some good Mac programs... but you can't have everything.

Given that the Harmony Desktop app is unusable and it's clear they have no intention of fixing it, can I make the suggestion that they make the protocol open source so others can create some decent apps?

It can't be that complex, it's already using OIDC as the authentication protocol so they don't need to worry about opening up the server-side API.

Seems to work for me, although I have not tried to sync my remote yet.  Installed fine, logged in fine, all my info seems to be there.  I for one am glad Logitech is finally fixing this issue for us Mac users.  Show a little gratitude, folks.  Easy to complain, but at least they are working on it!

    dklj,

I'd recommend you to quit the software from the menu bar and try again. I hope this will resolve the issue, let me know the outcome!

    Hi dklj,

We recognize that screenshot, but it is not something that should be seen when using the latest app.  Are you able to reproduce that?  If so, can you send a screenshot that includes the URL bar?

    Hi Dan,

The software discussed here, Logitech Harmony Remote Software is for our legacy remotes.

You currently have a MyHarmony account.  This software is also not for you.  You should be using Harmony Desktop.  From your computer, please go here - https://support.myharmony.com/en-us/download and click on the icon on the right.  After downloading and installing Harmony Desktop, you can log in using your email address.

    Hey Robin,

I don't have a good answer for you.  As of today, our Hub remotes are not supported on Catalina.  Account creation and access have to be done from the Harmony App from your Android or iOS device or from running MyHarmony on a Windows machine or a lower version of macOS.

Is the new OS 10.15 (64-bit) software intended to work with the Harmony 650 remote?

    Thanks

    Hi NormD and James Bell,

    @ NormD ,

Apologize for the trouble. We have already forward the feedback to our development team, I will get back to you once the feature is implemented.

    @James Bell,

Yes, it is available. However please make sure that you are using mac OS Catalina prior downloading. Our Software download website will analyze your OS version to provide the correct software.

    Thanks,

    Kay
