  • Giss .

I have been in contact with the support for this issue since January, so far no solution from Logitech.

I have found a work around for this issue, at least for me it works, disable on Windows 10 the service " Human Interface Device ".

Didn't have any issue in the overall use of my pc, just a 2 second delay on the use of volume keys when you switch on or resume from sleep the keyboard. This solution is perfectly reversible so if you  experience problems just enable back the service.

I have the same problem, but my volume goes to max and I can't lower it without power cycling the keyboard.

@Greg Kramer: Same issue here. I don‘t understand why Logitech is not able to solve this issue. Seems like they don‘t even care... To the developers: If you‘re not able to implement functioning Volume Keys, just leave it. Should‘ve bought some cheap chinese stuff for a quarter of the price... Just sad...

Did any of you tried to disable the "Human Interface Device Service" ? Did it work for you?

Giss . Disabling the Human Interface Device Service on my Windows 10 computer seems to have solved the problem for me. I will run it this way for a while and report back.

I have the same issue.  It seems that when you let go of the up or down volume keys, it does not clear the key repeats.  I was able to mitigate the problem by setting the key repeat speed in windows to really slow.  None of my other keyboards have this issue, so I'm not sure if the problem is in the Logitech driver, or a combination of other things.  It would be nice if they could fix this issue since the MX Keys is not a cheap keyboard.....

Giss . thank you, that seems to have resolved the issue - you're a star.

For anyone interested, the ticket raised with Logitech ended up with them asking for the usual bollocks of reinstalling drivers, etc, and then they concluded the device is faulty and I should return it. Brilliant. lol

Thanks Darek, my ticket anded the same as you, the new keyboard didn't solve the problem, I even sent them a video showing the problem.
My ticket is still open so I sent an email to warn them about the problem with the service "Human Interface Device", but so far no reply.
For the rest I don't know what to say, I am quite disappointed, also because in the meantime I had to change the mouse Mx Master 3 three times due to assembly defects.

I found what might be the solution on another site. Apparently it looks like the problem might be with the companion software for the keyboard "Logitech Options". I had the software installed and the exact same problem was occurring, either the volume would max out or drop to zero and I was completely unable to exercise any control over it. Someone on another non-Logitech forum suggested it was the software and to uninstall it. I did that and haven't had a single volume problem since then, so I suspect there's a flaw in the software that's effecting the keyboard in that way. Honestly, the software isn't necessary anyway unless you plan on changing specialized key functions. Without it, the keyboard functions perfectly normally with the alternative F-keys operating just like when they first came out of the box (brightness, keyboard illumination, media controls, etc.)

My suggestion to Logitech is to take a look at your Logitech Options software because it seems like the problem lies there.

I have the same issue, it's really frustrating to the point that I might just dump this keyboard and go back to my old one....  This problem has been going on for quite a while now...  I wish they would fix this...

Chiming in to say I have the same issue.

Keyboard stuck at "100" volume and the overlay won't disappear nor allow me to decrease volume.

Must power cycle keyboard to remove the overlay.

Pretty stupid for $100 keyboard. I'm returning it.

Ya, I agree. It seems like it's a keyboard / driver / windows combination issue.  I gave up today.  My volume went to 100% then I had to power cycle the keyboard to stop it from continuously going up, then it got stuck going all the way to 0.  So, went to Amazon and bought a separate  standalone USB multimedia controller.  Basically a knob that adjust the volume and mute / unmute.  We'll see how that goes.

You'd think that in 2020 developers could get the volume working for 2 buttons...  Sheesh!

I didn't have this issue with the k830 for many years, switched to a k780 and the problem began. Just got a brand new MX Keys today and had the some problem in the middle of a zoom meeting! Again!

The Unifying receiver is plugged straight into a lenovo laptop with latest windows 10 version. It seems to get stuck when I rapidly tap volume up/down to make adjustments to the volume.

I followed another persons comment and uninstalled the logitech options software entirely. Haven't seen the issue since. Hopefully this fixed the problem...

Same here. Looks like this problem with Logi options exists for years already, but Logitech doesn't care.
