Lag and stutter Mx Master 3 on new M1 MacBook Air Big Sur
AnsweredI have the MX Master 3 and I'm using it with a new M1 MacBook Air running Big Sur. Previously I had it working fine on my 2019 MacBook Air, but on the new one I get the pointer lagging and stuttering every few seconds.
This is on a Bluetooth connection. For now, I've reverted to using the USB dongle (and this works perfectly) but I'd prefer to use Bluetooth. I have restarted the Mac, unpaired/repaired the mouse; basically everything I can think of, but the stutter is still there.
I get exactly the same with my spare Logitech Triathlon Mouse, so I know it's not a problem with the Master 3, specifically.

Prem L I just wanted to add my voice here too. The reason why people are so frustrated, is that it has been more than a year by 2 or 3 months, since the first Apple Silicon Macs were released; and there is hasn't been ANY pro-active communication about support of Apple Silicon. Also, frustrating is that the new "Logi Options +" driver application, which is in Beta testing, is not even a Universal app. How could the newest version of software in active development, not support Apple Silicon?

Hi Prem L,
I noticed your last reply is mostly the same (actually is copy paste) as your answer from 1 month ago.
We demand actions, not "diplomatic answers". Over 1 year passed and we still do not have a proper solution working on Apple Silicon, this is frustrating for all users!
I personally do not blame you (just an employee), but I would appreciate you send this feedback to your supervisor. "In the near future" is simply not good enough!
With regards,
Andy

Seems they created a beta of Logitec Option+ (Universal app) with Apple Silicon Support:

Fully agree with danmills above. And I want to add something too. Another reason why people are so frustrated, is that for so long, Logi has been using a useless solution to respond to people's questions, despite that people have re-iterated that it's not working. Logi believed that the driver worked perfectly under Rosseta, but hadn't really tested anything on a real M1 mac. Until recently. It's not something a top 1 brand should do.

I was wondering why my computer (2020 M1 Macbook Pro) seemed so sluggish recently. And then I saw this:
The program is constantly 'loading', on the purple screen below with the circle spinning. It never does load, though it did seem to update itself recently. But...a 90% constant load! I'm not sure you can really get much worse than that. I did try uninstalling and reinstalling - it works on the first install but then goes back to the above loop from then on. I'm giving up on trying to fix any of this now - even when it did work, the mouse experience was terrible, jumping and stalling all over the place at random times. I'm not sure what to do other than try other brands and leave Logitech behind - I absolutely love the hardware but trying to use it is exhausting.

Wow, Logitech sucks. Unsubscribing from this thread, since no progress have been made in the 8 or so months since I decided to return my MX Master 3 for a refund, and I doubt if I'll buy another logitech mouse with this slow dev-turnaround on the Apple Silicon drivers. Seemed like a perfect mouse for me, if only it had worked on my M1 MBA. GLHF to everyone reading this, I hope the drivers are fixed someday. <3

Just to let others know that this issue it is also problematic with Windows 10 pc.
Even with the unifying receiver it works fine mostly, then all of a sudden lags and stick all over the desktop, and gets stuck on just about every icon in the program your working with, and even in File Explorer.
This is the first time I have had any issues with any Logitech Gear - so I think MX 3 is just a dud.
Gave up trying to sort it and went back to my G700 - problem gone. Very disappointed....

Extremely displeased with this.
The mouse works perfectly over Bluetooth with an Intel Mac running Catalina I use for work.
But both on a Macbook 12 2017 and a Macbook Air M1, both running Big Sur, it doesn't work properly. With the former is just unusable, the later displays intermittent lag, that it's not acceptable given the price tag.
I don't know if the problem is with Big Sur, I just want it to work properly.

Chiming in here to say that I am also experiencing enormous lag spikes on Mac OS Big Sur / M1 Macbook Air with the MX Master 3. The lag occurs on bluetooth AND with the unifying receiver, while the receiver is connected to a USB-C hub. I have bought a small one-port USB-A to USB-C converter, and am testing it out. So far this fixes my problem, but is a major annoyance, since a major selling point of the MX Master 3 was avoiding dongles (The M1 Air only has two USB-C ports)
I would appreciate any news on this issue - whose fault it is (Logitech or Apple), and what's being done to overcome this issue.
Thanks!

Same problem, i use MBA m1 and MX Master 3 for Mac, freezes every 3 seconds since i opened new mac and connected mouse to absolutely clean system, install \ uninstall logitech options not helps.
Hope that this issue gonna be resolved as soon as possible, but now i can't work with that.

I have some issues with the MX Master 3 on my M1 Mac mini as well. It stutters, and the app takes a lot of memory. It seems to be using Rosetta 2 as it is not natively rewritten for the Apple Silicon. I hope Logi Options releases a new update where the software gets compatible with M1 Macs.
