I am also having the same problem, when i first got the keyboard it was great. After an update it started blinking and now no matter which version software i use it keeps blinking. I find it really annoying as i have to keep the lights off which defeats the purpose of the money I spent on this when i could have gotten any non-backlit keyboard. I also have to keep it off due to how much it drains the battery!

I am having the same issue!

    I have used this workaround:

Hi, I am having same issue with MX keys, but think made some progress. Switch on backlight on MX Keys and plug USB-C charging cable into MX keys/computer - start to charge keyboard. Light on my MX Keys does not switch off while charging. After couple of moments disconnect charging cable and check if there is any progress with backlight. If backlight is not enabled switch it on (backlight) and test it. Do not turn off keyboard :) Play with charging until you solve it...

And it seems to be working fine, untill I turn backlight off and on manually or I switch keyboard off and on again.

I am having the exact same issue.

Funny thing: It behaves properly when it's sitting in my lap. The backlight only comes on when my fingers approach it and time-out after a bit. It's only when I set the keyboard off to the side (like when I'm watching a long video in my recliner and set the keyboard off to the side on the couch) that it does this, and then it's fairly distracting because I'm sitting in a dark room focused on my TV screen and then in my peripheral vision there's the keyboard lighting up then going out, lighting up then going out, over and over until I get annoyed enough that I just turn the keyboard off until I'm done watching my video.

So I have a work-around, which is power off the device. But really, this should be unacceptable for a $100 keyboard, to have to turn the thing off just to not have it break immersion whilst watching TV. And just in case folks think this is a trivial annoyance, let me sit next you you in a movie theatre and constantly turn my phone screen on and off while you're trying to watch the film and see if its trivial or not. 😋

Same issue here. It's extremely annoying.

Also it will be nice to have an option in software to permanently switch on backlit.

Same issue here.. I have mx keys few days only. It was ok when I was using only one PC. Today connected the second one and problem started. Maybe its not linked but maybe yes. Switch it off and on again helped, but only for few tenths of minutes.

Would be nice to see any official comment giving us update on problem solving progress.

Two days old and I have the same.

I completely cleared my desk, thinking something was triggering it, but does the same. Almost as if the proximity sensor is too sensitive and picking up something in the air?

I have same issue, don't know if some sensor if cracked or it's soft issue, will Logitech do anything about that?

I sadly have the exact same problem. The backlight doesn't work properly. After so many workarounds it doesn't work. I also have the most recent firmware update and also used 2 different receivers at the same time.

Yes, me too (MX Keys for Mac). After updating to the latest version 8.50.210. The backlight will constantly flash unless I manually turn it off. And no reaction to the proximity sensor.
Have tried downgrading to 8.36.76 but nothing works. Turning off/on and connecting power will get different and seemingly random results but just won't work correctly. I can only assume that the update has changed the firmware for something buggy and this needs to be fixed fast.

Anyone reached official support for refund/replace? So far logitech just ignores my emails. What a shame.

I have the same issue.   It's very annoying.   Sometimes at night when the computer is off it also starts flashing.   I didn't even want any backlighting functionality when I bought this keyboard.   I tried a firmware update, reinstalled the software, no luck.

Frank5829 Same for me man. It sucks, especially during night or when the computer is actually turned off thus draining the battery.

Every day this goes on without remedy I dislike this keyboard a little bit more. All I really wanted was wireless and backlighting, for the specific use-case of having a robust, fully-functional keyboard for the living-room couch at night. It certainly has a premium feel but I'd rather it just work properly. I am starting to regret buying this thing. It seems Logitech is unable or unwilling to fix this. Please do the needful!

The most annoying thing as Logitech is unwilling to implement simple function which makes backlit constant and turn off that broken light sensor programmatically. It would solve problem for a lot of people, even though with a small cost of battery life.

It's not a big deal for me to turn it off and on manually once per day Logitech!!!

    Dear Customers,

    Thanks for reaching out.

This feature is not possible currently, it depends upon the lighting condition and it adapts the surrounding light. We will take this as feedback and pass along your suggestion to our team to check out. Let us know if there is anything else we can share with them or if you ever have any questions any time in the future.

In case if you need any additional support, please write back to us.

    Hi
Finally you guys have accepted this is a overall problem not a specific device problem. Anyway, now the question is what to do with this? How long we have to deal with this?

    Hi Saurav T,

First, thanks for the first logitech representative reply ! (it's never too late)

Please consider all the upper post not as feature request, but a bug that need to be handle as an issue.

The backlight it's just not working at all. it suppose to be turn on when (1) the light level is too low AND (2) when you bring your hands close to the edge of the keyboard or start typing.

but for now, none of the 2 conditions look to work. I have 4 keyboards like this and I promess that none of them works properly and cause a very fast battery dischage.

    Thanks for your assistance.

I've had 3 of these now and the same issue has happened with all of them. The temporary workaround of making sure the backlight is on, connecting the USB cable, then disconnecting it a few seconds later works for me, but only until I turn the keyboard off. Once I turn it back on, the issue returns.

With 2 of the 3 keyboards, one of the rubber feet came off, and with 1 of them, a screw came loose inside the raised bit at the rear of the keyboard, so that rattles around if I pick the keyboard up and move it. Here's a video from someone who also had the loose screw issue: -

It's frustrating, cos while Logitech have replaced the faulty keyboards for me, no problem, I just want one that works. The illumination issue is particularly annoying cos I'm constantly turning the keyboard off and on via the power switch, cos I know if I don't the backlight will just cycle on/off non-stop.
