Astonishingly, disgustingly, bad product design and integration - Logitech View
This product is not listed on the list of cameras used to contact "customer service", so it took me searching through the Logitech website and an internet search to find a US number to call.
I bought a Logitech View camera through Amazon last week. It was delivered Wednesday 1st Sept.
I want to add it to my Logitech app and/or the Home app in my iPhone. I'm not an engineer, but I am pretty smart when it comes to figuring out how things work, but I have spent OVER SIX HOURS (tracked and recorded) with Logitech "tech support" and still with NO CAMERA CONNECTION!! I must have gone over the process of "sir, disconnect the product for 9 seconds and then wait...etc, etc". so many times I can't actually remember. I am appalled that that a US corporation like Logitech would actually sell such a kludgy product and with no instructions included in the packaging, and marketing language purporting to have a product easy to install, that if anyone had the time and sense they would take this company to court with a class action suit for gross misrepresentation of a consumer product. (After all there is a lemon law for automobiles...)
But I digress - I now have TWO cameras that don't work, compared to when the process started where I had at least one that worked through the Logitech app.
There are only a couple of options:
1) I return the product and if necessary challenge the charge through Citibank.
2) Hire a tech installation group to fix the installation.
2b) FIle in small claims court for the cost of what it took to get it up and running (assuming that they can actually do that), and as I know that Logitech will not show up in court, hope that the judge files in my favor. While I don't expect that I will ever get any money from Logitech, at least it will be satisfying to know that someone agrees with me...
3) File the story with the consumer reporting functions of the major TV networks in San Francisco, CA and petition to get this on the air. I am ABSOLUTELY sure that my story and my voice will represent massive numbers of people who simply gave up, or did not have the where with all or tenacity or time to pursue the matter.
This kind of sales and so-called "customer support" can't be allowed to continue.
Edit
-
I wasted $170.00 back in July, after three weeks of trying to get the camera to work I enjoyed three weeks of monitoring. After a month it went off line and after many attempts once again neither my Apple TV, Apple base or Apply iPhone can find this $170.00 wasted money.
Apple WILL NOT help because the camera is not manufactured by Apple and Logitech support is non existent.
