To configure Logitech Media Server, first download and install Logitech Media Server software, and then follow these steps (for your compatible operating system):
Windows (XP/2003/2008/Vista/7)
1. After installing Logitech Media Server software, launch the Logitech Media Server from the Windows taskbar.
2. Click on the Library tab.
3. Enter a name for your media library. This is the name for your server that will appear on client devices when accessing your media files.
4. Click the Add button to browse for and designate the locations where your music, pictures, and/or Video files are stored. To remove a media folder designation, select the folder path and click the Delete button.
5. Click Browse to designate the folder location where your playlists are stored.
6. Click Apply.
7. Click on the Status tab and check to make sure that Logitech Media Server is running. If not, click Start Logitech Media Server.
8. Close the Logitech Media Server Control Panel window.
Mac OS X (10.4-10.7)
1. After installing Logitech Media Server software, launch System Preferences.
2. Click on the Logitech Media Server preference pane, and then click OK if prompted that System Preferences needs to restart.
3. At the Logitech Media Server preference pane, click on the Library tab.
4. Enter a name for your media library. This is the name for your server that will appear on client devices when accessing your media files.
5. Click the “+” button to browse for and designate the locations where your music, pictures, and/or video files are stored. To remove a media folder designation, select the folder path and click the "-" button.
6. Click Browse to designate the folder location where your playlists are stored.
7. Click on the Status tab and check to make sure that Logitech Media Server is running. If not, click Start Server.
8. Quit System Preferences.
Linux (Debian/Ubuntu)
1. After installing Logitech Media Server software, Go to the address: "127.0.0.1:9000/settings/index.html" in a compatible web browser.
2. At the Basic Settings tab, select your language.
3. Enter a name for you media library. This is the name for your server that will appear on client devices when accessing your media files.
4. Enter the path or browse for up to two folder locations where your music, pictures, and/or video files are stored. (Make sure to check the corresponding file type boxes to ensure proper file scanning)
5. Enter the path or browse for the folder location where your playlists are stored.
6. If you desire to rescan the contents of your media library, select the desired option from the drop-down menu and click Rescan.
7. Click Apply, and then click Close.
