Pandora freezes on Squeezebox Touch

    Yes, I'm having similar issues with both Pandora & Slacker (free accounts), on both a Squeezebox Boom and a Squeezebox Radio.  Both seem to hang at the end of a song every 10-30 minutes or so.  I can't use the skip or pause/play buttons to fix it, I have to temporarily change to another station, then back.  Just now I got an error like "Slacker timed out waiting for data" on my Boom.  It seems like this has been happening for the last week or two.

    We have had reports of this with Pandora and a different error with Sirius, but we have not had any reports with Slacker. It is best to remove your account then remove the apps and reinstall them. If that does not work please contact your region's customer care center so that they can look into this more.   1. Go to www.mysqueezebox.com[http://www.mysqueezebox.com] and login 2. Go to My Apps 3. Click on (App name) 4. Remove your (App Name) account (should look like a big red circle with a white line in the middle) 5. Uninstall the App \r\nNow go to your player 1. Go to the home menu 2. Go to App Gallery 3. Go to (App name) 4. Uninstall App (just like installing the App) 5. Reinstall the App and see if it is working as it should.

    Cat, I and several others have done this and it has no effect on the Pandora issue. I can't speak to Slacker. I might add that the sequence you describe is perhaps inadvertently off. If one uninstalls it first from the my squeezebox.com, one cannot uninstall it from the player because it is already uninstalled and will not give you an uninstall option. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app on the player *and* via the website. I know someone with two touch players and he has done the same, but the freezing problem persists. Please follow up with a tier 2 tech tomorrow. Thanks

    Smithc, Your problems identical to mine and at least two other people I know with Touch's or booms. Please consider calling 877-887-8889. More wheels that squeak, the sooner the oil will come. ;-)

    Cat,   Thanks for the suggestion, although from seeing the responses from others who tried this and it didn't solve anything, and because the problem is appearing with two different services/apps (Slacker & Pandora) on two different Squeezebox devices (Boom & Radio), I'm guessing that the problem is more centralized.  I'm not saying I won't try it (if the problem continues--happened again today with Pandora), but I may call tech support first :-)  (who will probably tell me to try the same thing).   ...Chuck (computer & network tech support guy off & on since 1984)

    I'm having the same problem with my squeezebox radio and Pandora. Two of my friends are having the same problem with their radios and Pandora. I tried Cat's fix and it did not solve the problem. For all 3 of us, it started around 2/22/2012 after months of having no issues. I'm able to play Pandora premium on my iPhone and PC with no problem. On my squeezebox radio, Pandora freezes repeatedly after some random number of minutes of play. Here's the data. Squeeze version 7.7.1-r9557 Pandora premium Fios internet connection (my two friends have Comcast).   We need some help!

    Call the number I listed above. It's the only way this will get the attention it is due. Believe me, I know from past experience.

    Well I called Squeezebox tech support around 6:40pm (California time) and got right through, no waiting. Spoke to a very pleasant guy in Nova Scotia named CJ.  After taking down my description of the issue and going off to investigate a bit, he came back and (paraphrasing) said: "The engineers are aware of the problem and are working on it.  Nothing more to report at this time.  Keep any eye on the forums because any public announcements will be made there."   He apologized that the news wasn't any better than that and I told him that I figure out of the 7 billion people in the world, there are probably 6.99 billion that would be happy to have their biggest problem in life be having to get up occasionally to change the radio station.

    Nice attitude. Thanks for calling. I've been told by Treveor, a tier 2 supervisor that the issue appears to involve a communication issue with Pandora's new server. They needed our feedback according to Trevor, so the calls are not in vain. My touch just went for four hous uninterrupted this evening. fingers crossed. ;-)

    Hello everyone,   This has been reported to our engineers and it looks like this started after Pandora made a change on their end. Unfortunately I do not have a timeline when this will be fixed.   If you are having issues with other Apps please open a support ticket for your region as this is just pertaining to Pandora.

    We are currently monitoring this thread for user reports of Pandora and Slacker issues. We are aware of complaints that Pandora is either Freezing or not playing consistantly, and this is being investigated between our Engineers and Pandora.   Is anyone else having issues with Slacker? What are the symptoms? I'll certainly advise our Engineers if there are further issues.

    Trevor and Cat, Thanks for being on top of this! This is the way the boards should work. FYI, the length of playback seems to vary pretty widely. Last night, one station played all night from 11pm to 9 in the morning without a freeze. Today I logged stretches of 10 minutes, 1 hour, and 2 hours. The interruptions seem to happen more during daylight hours Don't know if this helps, but I thought I'd pass it along.

    Portland, OR Squeezebox Touch same issue, freezes at the end of the song, also sometimes turns itself off. Starting to regret my purchase, thinking of returning it to Amazon.

    Gonzopa, I feel ypur pain, but Pandora's response to this has been very cavalier. They just said that the Touch was not one of their supported products...which I *still* don't quite understand. They have NO phone support and their email support is lame. I used to be a big Pandora Booster ( I pay for my subscription) but my experience in trying to get them to reach out to Logitech has been disappointing. I suggest emailing Pandora...they should at least try to assist in helping Logitech find a solution since it was *their* server change and lack of communication about it that's causing the problem.

    Same problem.   Squeezebox Touch version 7.7.1 r9558   It will play for a random amount of time, then stop. I've uploaded a picture of the screen when it is "hung" here: http://i.imgur.com/IzUHj.jpg[http://i.imgur.com/IzUHj.jpg]   To restart the music, I need to back out to the playlists and reselect a playlist. It will then start playing again (until it stops). It is a fairly recent problem, only starting within the past few weeks.

    I agree, the problem with Pandora freezing up seem to be more frequent during the daytime hours.

    Also, I am having the Pandora freezes on all of the following devices: Squeezebox Duet, Squeezebox Radio and Squeezebox Touch so this is not just a Squeezebox Touch/Pandora issue. The interruptions began around Feb 23rd.

    Hi Trevor,   I'm having essentially the same symptoms with both Pandora & Slacker.  Stops playing at end of song.  Have to change stations to something different, then return to the original to get it to restart.  On my Boom I'll see something like "Slacker timed out waiting for data."  If it's Pandora the screen will say "PANDORA_".

    Trevor and Cat, \r\nI am having a serious issue with my Slacker Plus paid service. It is similar to the Pandira problem. The playlist custom music will play for approximately 45 minutes or less and then just stop. There is no message and it visually appears that the music is playing in that the time clock seconds on ipeng progress but the progress line does not move and there is no music. I have reported this to a technician at Slacker.com and he reported back that it is NOT an issue on their end and he recommended that Logitech be notified of this issue implying that it is a Logitech issue. \r\n \r\nIt is definitely an annoying problem in that I must regularly and frequently re-start my Slacker playlist. It's has been an issue for me for about 3 weeks or less and it happens with Pandora although I do not have a paid subscription to Pandora. \r\n \r\nDo you foresee this being fixed soon?

    Cat and Tevor, I received an email from Pandora indicating that they ate beginning tests on this issue and that they would be sending signals to my "box" and to keep it on. When Pandora freezes, which it is now doing every half hour or so, can the touch still receive signals, messages and firmware updates? I mention this because I suspect a firmware update of some kind may end up being the solution to this issue. Thanks for your help.

    Hello vhiner,   The signal actually comes through our website mysqueezebox.com then goes to your box though once the engineers get this fixed with Pandora's engineers it will just start working as it should with no changes made by you.

    Here's something I want to make sure the engineers understand; when a station on Pandora freezes, you cannot simply back out and then return immediately to that station. For whatever reason, you must go to another station and stay there for a good hour or so before you can go back and listen to your originally selected station. So, it's not a mere inconvenience if you want to listen to a particular style of music for more than 30 minutes. If it were merely a matter of occasional pauses in the stream, suppose I could learn to live with it. I just listened to my Bon Iver station for 20 minutes and now I can't access it....for how long I do not know.

    Cat, Do you mean you continue to pass everything along or are done passing things along? Sorry, but the wording is unclear. Everyone I talk to is having the exact experience I just described, so I don't understand what you mean that pandora is acting differently for everyone. Can you explain? Thanks.
