Logitech unifying software randomly opens and disrupts full-screen applications
Hello!
I recently bought a Logitech Triathlon m720 bluetooth wireless mouse and I love it.
However, once in a while, a tab will pop up on my taskbar and minimize anything I'm currently doing. For exemple, if I'm fullscreen gaming, I'll be brought to the desktop and have to load the game to fullscreen again. It's really annoying, especially while playing online. The tab has the orange 'star' logo that the USB Adapter has:
If I click on the tab, nothing happens. It closes itself after a few seconds. If I hover over the tab, it says 'Logitech Unifying Software'.
Is there something I can do to stop that from happening?
Thank you!

Hi @Gabriel Comtois? ,
Thank you for choosing Logitech!
I'd be more than happy to assist you.
Can you check your start up and see if Logitech Updater or Unifying Software is enabled then if it is kindly disable it or you may uninstall Unifying Software.
Please let us know if you need further assistance.
Warm regards,
Logi_Frank

Frank V., This is still happening exactly the same way in Win 10 2004. There is no Logitech Updater in Task Manager > Start-up and nothing called Unifying Software. It occurs while Logi Overlay, LogiOptions.exe and LogiOptionsMgr.exe are running. The Unifying process in question which interrupts a full screen app to Desktop is triggered by one of those three processes. When LogiOptions.exe is disabled in Start-up, all three do not run and the interruption does not occur. However, disabling it means that custom cursor speeds etc are no longer applied to the mouse.
This really must be fixed.Perhaps this can help:
C:\ProgramData\LogiShrd\Unifying\EngineLog.txt...
[20:57:38:0331]: ----------[10-18-2020]------------------------- Unifying API ------------------------------------
[20:57:38:0331]: <12512>Unifying Loaded DLL: 2.50.25
[20:57:41:0364]: <13324> Device doesn't respond!! Current retry count: 0 -
update: ignore this.
I think I have found a way to reduce or even prevent the interruptions.
- Open the Logitech Options app
- Select the device that uses the Unifying USB dongle (mouse in my case)
- Select More > Software. Uncheck "Automatically check for updates"
- Select Analytics. Uncheck "Help Logitech improve its products and services automatically"

Hmm. There is one other thing I did but I don't know if it is related to this issue. Go to Task Manager > Start-up and disable Logitech Download Assistant, if you find it. Then restart Windows. I'm still not 100% sure I've fixed it but I've not seen the Unifying process pop-up for a couple of days.
If you haven't changed any settings in Logitech Options (pointer speed, buttons etc) then you might as well uninstall it because the mouse will still work. Mine is the MX Ergo by the way.

I have a feeling you will be waiting a long time.
I saw it again so I went a step further by renaming DJCUHost.exe in [C:\ProgramData\LogiShrd\LogiOptions\Unifying] to stop it running. I assume this is the program that kicks us out to Desktop because of the same orange icon. Since doing that, there are no new events in C:\ProgramData\LogiShrd\Unifying\EngineLog.txt and I still have my custom pointer speed set in Logitech Options. I'll now try keeping this change and re-enabling the check boxes and download assistant in start-up as it might never update (with an official fix) with everything turned off.
The reason I'm so keen to fix it instead of uninstalling is because I game with a wired mouse using the proper Windows mouse settings (neutral cursor speed, no acceleration). The (Unifying) MX Ergo has a track ball which is too slow with those Win settings.

I've got a DJCUHOST.EXE-XXXXXXXX.pf in C:\Windows\Prefetch with a timestamp that exactly matches the last event in EngineLog.txt. These events (the bug) have stopped occurring since I renamed DJCUHost.exe to _DJCUHost.exe. Maybe deleting it is no good.
I have a ticket open with support and I'm trying to get it seen by developers. I'm losing patience fast as the support team keep suggesting all kinds of unrelated measures like a clean boot with LogiOptions reinstall. I'll post here if I learn anything useful.

Hello all, I think I have the solution to your problems.
The icon was bothering me as well, and when I caught the unifying program while it was disturbing, I unpaired my mouse. That was a bad decision as I couldn't get it to work anymore and I was lucky I got a sketch book for Christmas.
Anyway, I found these two drivers and installed them both: https://support.logi.com/hc/en-us/articles/360025141574
https://support.logi.com/hc/en-us/articles/360025297913
And when I paired up my mouse again and updated the drivers, the problems were gone. I also disabled any future updates. I haven't seen the unifying logo since!

Thanks for sharing that. I tried installing the 'unifying software' but it appears to duplicate one already installed by LogiOptions, DJCUHost.exe, in a different location. After every reboot the updater runs and seems to fail to install any updates. It got messier for me so I've uninstalled that and reverted to my renaming method.

I'm having the same issue. I suspect the Logitech Options software is the culprit, as this only started happening after, I believe, a recent Logitech Options software update. The Logitech Unifying software was something I had installed separately at one point, then uninstalled. I've even manually deleted the Logitech Unifying software folder several times, but it keeps coming back. I think the Logitech Options software is reinstalling this and running it once a day.

Hello all!
I have been back and forth with Logitech for a couple months about this. Feel free to read about my journey so far in the following thread:

The response is ridiculous but someone reading this may want to try it. Uninstall, do extra things, reinstall the same version. I'd rather just keep DJCUhost.exe renamed and wait for a fixed version but to be honest that is feeling increasingly unlikely. It's gone from troubleshooting nonsense to wait for a fix and now back to troubleshooting. Here it is:
"We apologize for the delay in response.
I would request you to reinstall all the software

Here's an official link: https://download01.logi.com/web/ftp/pub/techsupport/options/Options_8.54.106.exe
The file is on the server, however Logitech website still directs to 8.36.86
