New Chromecast Support for Hub

Will the Harmony Hub add support to control the new Chromecast that google introduced? I am hoping for an integration similar to how the Fire TV is supported.

    I can understand that you'd like to know about controlling the new Chromecast device via Harmony. 

    I'd recommend try adding the Nvidia or Windows device (Bluetooth device) to see whether the new Chromecast device responds.

    Yes I would love this. I ordered 2 of them and would really, really prefer to not have to use a second remote.

    Same here... would be nice to support new chromecast... considering that new remote is BT it should be possible

    To be clear this is the new Chromecast with Google T which was just released. The included remote is nice but not up to the task of controlling everything I need to be controlled with it.

    I tried the recommended steps provide by Ralph but was unsuccessful.  I couldn't get the Google TV to pair with the Harmony hub

    I am looking for the same thing.  The ability to control the 2020 Google Chromecast with my Harmony Elite remote.   This new model Chromecast includes a bluetooth remote.

     The suggestions to use the Nvidia Shield or Windows bluetooth devices do not work.

    Dear customers, 

     

    We might need your help in adding the new Google Chromecast to the Harmony database. Please add the following device to your account and see if that works as expected. Let us know the commands that are working and not working.

    Manufacturer: Harmony Beta

    Model Number: AndroidTVTest

    Add the device, create Activity using it, and start the Activity. Now go the Google Chromecast settings and pair the remote.

    Also, please confirm if the following instructions are correct to pair the Chromecast. If not, provide the exact steps to help us add the device.

    1. Go to Settings 
    2. Select Remotes & Accessories > + Pair remote or accessory > Select pair when "Harmony Keyboard" requests for pairing.

    Adding 'AndroidTVTest' did work for me (hub with basic controller) and I was able to use all of the commands from the original remote.

    Based on the feedback from the customers we have added the device to our database. Please add the device as follows.

    Model: Chromecast with Google TV

    Please note only Hub based remotes supports this device. IR remotes like Harmony 650/665/950/One/etc. do not support this.

    That worked. I did have to map commands to the remote though, but no problems there.

    Thanks PK Harmony and DotComDude.  Adding "Manufacturer: Google
    Model: Chromecast with Google TV" in the devices worked great.  After I had to press the pairing button on the Chromecast 4k, then pair it to the Harmony Keyboard (which was Pairing on the Harmony App on my phone) it is working perfectly.
