    Hi tripmaster,

Thank you for writing to us with your concern!

I can understand your concern regarding the compatibility of PlayStation 5 with your Harmony remote.

Currently, we don't have any information on the PlayStation 5 device compatibility with Harmony remotes. Our team is working on it and at this time I can't promise on the compatibility.

In the meantime, I'd recommend you to check our Compatibility Tool page to check the status of the device compatibility in the future.

We appreciate your patience and understanding with us!

    Best regards,
    Ralph

    Rajesh Babu,

Any update on this? I understand that Harmony hardware is being discontinued but I hope that you can continue to work on this.

    hello

something that might help you all - PS5 + Harmony do talk with each other via a connect/disconnect to get them to hook up.

Come join and contribute to fixing the power off + on sequences:

The Harmony remote can work with the PS5 but there's a rather annoying catch: if you lie to the Harmony remote and tell it that you're hooking up to a PS4 it'll pretty much work, but the one issue is that it'll try to use the same power off sequence as it would for the PS4 and there's no way to change it. The best workaround at the moment is to own a TV that supports full HDMI-CEC and create an activity that automatically switches to the PS5's HDMI input. You will also need HDMI Link enabled on your PS5 for this to work; one benefit the PS5 has over the PS3 and PS4 is that it will turn off with the TV even if you've got an application open in the foreground so it doesn't really need a power off sequence so long as your TV supports HDMI-CEC.

What's kind of annoying to me is that this shows that Logitech doesn't really need to change much to fix this issue, they really just need to set it so that the PS4 power off sequence isn't mandatory. Sadly Sony have made it a little bit more difficult to create a consistent power off sequence for the PS5 because it's now possible to move the shutdown menu button on the quick menu, That being said there is an alternate sequence that I tried with my Dualsense controller that works just fine, the sequence is HOLD PS BUTTON, UP, RIGHT, RIGHT, RIGHT, RIGHT, CROSS, DOWN, DOWN, DOWN, DOWN, CROSS, PS, wait 3 seconds (controller has to reconnect for this part), DOWN, CROSS, CROSS. If any logitech mods are reading this I would like to request that this information gets sent to the developers if possible.

    Workaround here including power-off sequence.

Note poweroff sequence is more reliable if done from the homescreen.   Something up with the delays which makes poweroff sequence a bit unpredictable if done from within a game.

The point is that the issue isn't that Harmony is incompatible, it's not.  it's just that sony and harmony need to work together so you don't need to trick the PS5 and Harmony to not disconnect when first trying to pair.

I must admit I have given up on Logitech. There seems to be no development any longer on the productline so I am switching to a different product. Most likely not perfect and will have problems Logitech have solved ...but the lack of development on Harmony is simply too scary and I will not wait any longer. It is 10 months since I posted here and was told something is underway but since then there have been no indication but that Logitech is dropping Harmony all together.

crypticc that's just it though; I've never been able to get the power off sequence to change even after modifying it through the Harmony app on my phone. It's almost like Logitech has a their way or the highway policy specifically for the PS4 activity. I might give it a try through the windows program to see if it makes a difference, otherwise it looks like I'm stuck with using HDMI-CEC

Henrik Mikkelsen Logitech have stated that they still plan to support currently existing Harmony products but they're just not producing any more. Personally I would've gone for an alternative if it wasn't for the fact that their universal remotes seem to be the best I can get in the UK. If I had my way I'd like to own one that can utilise my Bravia's Google Assistant features but sadly that seems to be a Bravia Remote exclusive feature :/

HDMI-CEC doesn’t work well so I don’t use it. I have too many devices connected to my AV receiver and they don’t play well with each other. It’s not an option I want to try.

I only use my PS5 for gaming so using the controller to turn it on/off will have to do for now.

If Logitech would respond if they’re still working on development, it would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, I haven’t found anything close to the functionality of the Harmony remote.

    Ben Knight , Amar Razaq

So, first you've setup the PS5 but with Harmony searching device as PS3, then disconnected and re-paired with Harmony looking for a PS4 - I found this gets the PS5 to stick.

(I needed to add as PS3 first and then deleting it triggered a crashed process in PS5 which for some reason got it to accept pairing as PS4, but some seem to have been able to go straight to pairing bluetooth keyboard and with Harmony looking for a PS4 device)

But you then need to define a custom power-off sequence.  Don't use the default one.

In the desktop myHarmony app, or the mobile equivalent click on:

    1. "My Devices"
    2. "Change power settings"
    3. "I want to turn off this device when not in use"
    4. "I press two different buttons for on and off"

...and in the next screen create your custom power on and off commands

    Power on

(but won't work for reasons mentioned because PS5 only listens to Bluetooth keyboards/controllers when already turned on)

    "PS Button"

Expand the Power off commands at the bottom of the above screen to then define Steps 1...11 as follows:

    Notes

    • I found 0.5s for the first PS button press is the optimum to get the long-press effect which exits to homescreen if you're in a game menu.  But it also works if already on the homescreen.  The main time I've seen it not working is if you've already brought up the bottom toolbar rather than either in-game or default homescreen - in that case the first long-press PS5 seems to dismiss the menu we're trying to go into, and the rest starts to bring up trophy menus of the current game - I don't know of a fix for that.
    • The second PS button at 0s is enough to bring up the toolbar at the bottom of the screen.  The down, right, ok, ok from there are self-evident.
    • If even when on default homescreen it doesn't work change delays try changing the 800ms, 400ms and 300ms delays.  Changing the first 800ms to 1000ms (1 sec) seems to make it slightly more robust, less than 800ms sometimes works but not when playing some games.

crypticc you're telling me I can change the power off sequence through the mobile equivalent of the desktop app after I just told you I can't; if I try to do the steps you suggested the Harmony hub just completely ignores the custom power off sequences and just goes back to using the default which is what is leading me to believe that there might be an issue with the mobile app but not the desktop app (which is what you're using).

Actually I used the mobile app to initially set this up and I thought that it wasn't possible until I realised I was looking in the wrong area. Just checking that this is where you are looking in the app:

p.s. if relevant this is using a tablet but it's the same app as far as I know

    • Harmony setup
    • Add/edit devices & activities
    • Devices
    • Select "Sony PS4"  (which is actually your PS5)
    • Power Settings
    • Turn Off when not in use
    • Use Two Different Buttons
    • Here you can choose to update Power On, and Power Off

crypticc interesting, it looks like we're both doing the same thing but the issue is only happening with me. I'll play around with the app for a little bit and see if I can get anything to change. Out of curiosity do you use Android or iOS? I use Android and I want to rule out the possibility that it could be an issue with the Android app.

Ben Knight  , I followed cryticc instructions on My desktop Software and it works perfectly - Now if someone can figure out how to get a PS5 to Turn On would be great on the remote . I have HDMI Link enabled on TV & PS5 - Also I run through a Hue Media Sync Box for my Lights behind TV . So from The Sync Box The HDMI cable goes to TV and then the HDMI (ARC) goes to Reciever which also has the HDMI - CEC Enabled
