Implement an option to turn on the backlighting on the Logitech MX Keys permanently

    This would be a huge improvement to the keyboard. It's a massively needed feature and something of an oversight that it was left out in the first place.

    At least the timer should be adjustable, staying on for a minute or two.

    Unfortunately, the lazy software engineers at Logitech never fix anything so I expect this is as far as it goes.

    Hi Logitech! I'm really thinking about returning the keyboard beacuse it is so much inconvenient for that insanly high price.
    It takes only 5 seconds for the backlights to turn off. I need the backlights to be turned on when I'm looking for the first key to press. But I have to guess instead beacuse its so dark at my workplace...
    Even with room lights on -  its black keys with grey figures on them - too hard to read without the backlights.
    It would make us really happy if you allowed us to change the timeout period to up to at least 15 minutes. Or to leave it always on

    Literally punched mine a night or two ago when I couldn’t see it and nothing I did would make the lights come on. (I tried everything.) Overall it’s a solid keyboard but this is just crazy.

    I am in love with this keyboard, MX keys. I am usually Razer through and through. This has been my gateway to Logitech. If this feature cant be updated to make this more of a user option (choice of backlight time OR always on) I'll probably avoid this one in the future. It is a necessary future. I give my feedback as a plea, I understand the developers are aware. Help me love this keyboard that much more :)

    This keyboard is super exodious, made of great materials, I love typing on it.
     
    But it's also the most annoying keyboard ever - the design of the backlight that turns off so quickly and there's no way to turn it on permanently is stupid, and it's in the company's best interest to correct this design flaw as soon as possible!
     
    Even as I type this comment and reach for my coffee mug, I have to keep my hand on the keyboard to keep the backlight from turning off - this is stupid.
     
    So for now, my dear Logitech, you have an excellent product with one stupid feature xd
     
    Please change it.

    It’s been 17 days since this post started. It should be a 1 day patch tops if they wanted to do it. Sadly, Logitech never fixes anything. I’ve spent months going round with them, got their agent to admit something was a bug, only to have the engineers literally call it a “feature” in their software that literally hadn’t been updated since 2014.

    They make decent hardware, but they never fix anything.

    Guys please consider this feature - always on / always off. Now i am working at night and it is not good to always put hands to keyboard wait a bid for backlight and then be able to identify right key and press. 

     

    please guys - small update big big win !

    Please implement the always-on backlight. After spending almost 100 euros on this keyboard this option should be there. It ruins the aesthetics of the setup. The light should be on no matter of ambient brightness of the room. There must be an option to keep light on forever.

    Thanks in advance if you guys implement this and give us an update.

    Michael Siebold There are multiple posts on this forum regarding this issue, some of them are +1-2 years old and nothing has been actioned. It's always same copy/paste response from the support team.
    I have 3 suggestions for you:
    - Use the keyboard plugged in via the USB cable (it gives you a 5 min timeout)
    - Tape the sensor
    - Sell it / return it

    This is a must have! simply make it an option PLEASE!

    I switched to this from K800, which stayed on when plugged in, which was better than nothing.
    Very disappointed this did not do the same.. and i even have to press a key to get lights.

    I hope you guys can make it an option!😊

    Users of this keyboard have been checking for information about the addition of this one simple feature for 1.5 years. 1,5 YEARS!
    You have been writing back the same lies for 1.5 years and refuse to admit clearly and plainly that there WILL NOT be an update to the feature that users are asking for. Instead, you tell them to check the news by copying and pasting the same answer.

    Your responses in this topic, the answers given and your treatment of customers is frivolous, insulting to customers, and shows very bad customer service. Especially since this is a premium product, not a 10-euro keyboard.
     
    1.5 years of asking, and pathetic answers in return :(
    I would write that you should be ashamed, but I do not think that employees of Logitech corporation know such a feeling as shame.
     
    Instead, I give you my word of honor that this keyboard is the last Logitech product that I or my family will ever buy. For the rest of my life, I will advise against Logitech products and tell how customers were ignored for 1.5 years.

    Shame.

    I bought the keyboard today and am satisfied in and of itself. I was just irritated with the backlight that kept going off and on, but was 100% sure there must be a quick and easy fix. I downloaded the Logi Options app (and also tried the beta version), but didn't find any options for the backlight. 
    After a quick Google search, I found this forum post.

    This is an absolute no-go. The backlights turning off and back on are very, very distracting and I was so disappointed that Logitech doesn't seem to care at all. Please consider setting up permanent backlight activation as an option.

    I will test the keyboard extensively tomorrow, but will probably just return it.

    Since this patch should take a decent programmer less than an afternoon tops to write and test, your comment is hard to take seriously. If Logitech cared about it’s customers at all, this would have been implemented a week after the request garnered so much attention. The lack of action speaks volumes about the value that Logitech places on its customers.

    I don’t mean to be difficult but what tangible good does an apology actually do? The post is over a month old for what would be an incredibly simple fix. At least more people are seeing how Logitech treats its customers. I’d love to be wrong, but in years of using Logitech products on and off I’ve never seen them fix a single thing. The hardware is usually great. The software is lazily coded and poorly supported. It’s like the average of the product is okay and sometimes better than the competition because the hardware is so good. It’s just hobbled by bad code.

    I've bought the MX keys and I've got the same request as this thread does and I've also read the whole thread/post (I'm also coming from reddit too).

    I already downloaded Logi Options+ Beta which I thought could contain the setting we are so intensively asking for but it didn't, so @support team, could you please confirm in this thread who/an email address to scale this issue with? Also could you please open a new ticket asking for this feature to be implemented in Logi Options+ instead of the old logi options implementation (maybe at this way they can prioritize our request)? This thread has been open more than 4 months ago and some people have mentioned it for more than a year.

    I've gone back to my old K800 keyboard.  The K800's hand sensor actually works and there is very little backlight bleed around the edges of the keys.  Honestly the MX Keys backlight is horrible.  I hate it enough that I likely won't be buying another Logitech product again unless their support actually addresses the issue here.  The backlight comes on and off randomly even with no hand movement or ambient light change.  To make matters even worse, the backlight frequently doesn't come on when my hand approaches or comes on a second too late.  And then all of this is compounded by the fact that there is so much backlight bleed around the keys that is extremely distracting.  I've never had any of these problems on the K800.  The build quality of the MX Keys seems great and I really wanted to like it, but the sensor and backlight issues completely ruin the product.  If Logitech doesn't address this soon I'll be looking elsewhere when I finally replace my K800.

    What is more, when the keyboard is connected to USB port, proximity sensor is disabled and a user has to press a key to turn backlight on. In a dark room it is very inconvenient. Great product in many aspects is crippled by insufficient user experience options in software. How long shall we wait for this update? Logitech, please help!

    Joining in: please give us the option to either set the backlight timeout manually or an option to keep it on permanently, even if it shortents battery life. I find it hard to believe that the dev team hasn't been able to implement this after over 9 months!

    That is actually ridiculous lol. the fact that they don't even listen to the feedback is funny.

    Someone needs to get a job at Logitech just to fix this. I wish I know about this issue before buying

    Hi guys!

    Just bought this keyboard and this was my first reaction: why isn't it possible to increase the time the backlight stay on? Options for eg 5-10-20-30 seconds would be great!

    Sad to see it's not possible and Logitech doesn't seem to care, but at least reassured that I'm not the only one not wanting my keyboard light to switch all the time...! ;)

    And link to that would like to have the possibility to deactivate the hand detection.

    I bought G915 and I have to return it because I can't see the secondary functions even when light is on.  Totally unusable for me.  Then I saw that new MX has all keys and functions transparent. so I bought it.  Amazing keyboard with better feel than G915 and then I start using it and notice that lights just turn off and I cant see keys at all as I mostly work in a dark environment.  Even after a second or two with my hand on the keyboard the lights go off.  It's absolute nonsense.  Both MX and G915 are totally unusable in a dark environment.   I am buying the lighted keys to see in the dark.  Since it seems Logitech has no intention of fixing this pretty obvious blunder I will have to return yet another keyboard.  

    What's worse is the totally generic cut and paste answer messages I see on forum.  Well I am sure another company will be happy to have our business.  I'm returning the mouse, keyboards and saying good bye Logitech.  You guys should really change your name to NO-Logitech as there is 0 Logic in your business model or your products.
