    Hi Alex,

Your keyboard is equipped with an ambient light sensor that adapts the keyboard backlight according to the brightness of your room. There are three default levels that are automatic if you do not toggle the keys:

    • If the room is dark, the keyboard will set the backlighting to a low level.

    • In a bright environment, it will adjust to a high level of backlighting to add more contrast to your environment.

    • When the room is too bright, over 200 lux, the backlighting will turn off as the contrast is no longer visible, and it won’t drain your battery unnecessarily. When you leave your keyboard but keep it on, the keyboard detects when your hands approach and it will turn the backlight back on. The backlighting won’t turn back on if:

    • Your keyboard has no more battery, below 10%.

    • If the environment you're in is too bright.

If you've turned it off manually or using Logitech Options software.

Pooja B, thanks for your reply

Maybe I was not clear enough

I'm well aware that the backlit is expected to dim and light up when I move my hands above\near the keyboard

What it does is dimming and lighting up through more or less equal periods of time/ Lighting in the room doesn't change, nothing moves near the keyboard. It just continues to turn the backlit on and off w\o any reason I could imagine except a hardware\software problem

I have a similar problem. It starts flashing and disconnects during that period from my usb receiver. After a few seconds or minutes it is restored. And i don´t know what to do. Should I report it under warranty? I bought it for 11 months ago.

Hi there, we request you to please try the below steps:

    1. Verify that the product or receiver is connected directly to the computer and not to a hub, extender, switch, or similar.
    2. Move the device closer to the USB receiver. If the receiver is on the back of the computer, it may be helpful to relocate the receiver to a front port. In some cases the receiver signal is blocked by the computer case, causing a delay.
    3. Keep other wireless electrical devices away from the USB receiver to avoid interference.
    4. Disconnect / reconnect and test another USB port
    5. Clean the keyboard with compressed air.
    6. Test the keyboard on a different device.
    7. Restart your computer
    8. Check your device's battery level.

    Regards,
    Pooja

Same story here. My computer is in my bedroom; when I am going to sleep, my MX Keys randomly lights up and stays lit for varying lengths of time. When this happens, nothing is moving near the keyboard and the ambient lighting is not changing. I have tried the same steps to resolve the issue, but my only solution so far is to manually turn off the backlighting when I'm stepping away from my computer, and then turn it back on when I use it next. Not ideal.

Points 1-3 are irrelevant and are (sorry) just ridiculous

No one needs a wireless keyboard of this price that doesn't work through a usb hub, with receiver on the back of PC, anywhere near electrical devices (I should say though there's nothing fancy near it, just other pieces of PC gear you can find in any household). And this is not related to the problem I'm sure. Read the problem description

    Points 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 - tried many times, doesn't help

So, will there be a really useful reaction from someone? How do I fix this?
