If you're having a problem connecting Rugged Lite to your iPad, try the following:
- If this is the first time setting up your keyboard, ensure the battery pull tag has been removed. This is located on the top edge of the keyboard.
- Go to Settings on your iPad and ensure Bluetooth is active. Try turning Bluetooth off and then on again.
- Turn your keyboard on by inserting an iPad into the holder and placing it upright into Type Mode. The two bottom corners of the iPad holder should recess snuggly into the two keyboard holes. The status indicator will be red if your keyboard has critical battery life left, or not illuminate at all if completely dead. In this case, replace the batteries.
- Rugged Lite is intentionally designed to pair with a single iPad. The keyboard will forget pairing with the first iPad if paired with a second iPad. The first iPad will still display the Rugged Lite Bluetooth connection; however, the connection will not be established until repaired. Try re-pairing the keyboard to ensure it’s properly paired.
To re-pair your keyboard:
- On your iPad, tap Settings and then Bluetooth.
- Find "RuggedLite-XXX" in the Devices list, tap the arrow to the right and then tap Forget this device.
- Place the iPad in the upright typing position to turn the keyboard on. If the LED in the upper right corner is red, or does not turn on, try replacing the batteries.
- Press the Bluetooth connection button on the right side of the keyboard for two seconds to put it into discovery mode. The LED should rapidly blink white.
- On your iPad, tap Settings, then Bluetooth settings, locate "RuggedLite-XXX" in the Devices list, and select it. (“XXX” will be replaced with the last three digits of the keyboard's serial number, located on the back of the holder)
- Once the connection is made, the LED indicator light will turn solid white. Your keyboard is now ready to use.
