If you purchased a G Cloud device for your child or hand over an existing G Cloud device to your child, you can set up parental controls on your child’s G Cloud through your device. The solution relies on Google’s parental control “Family Link”.

NOTE: If you hand over your G Cloud device for your child to use, you should remove your existing Google account from your device before the parental control setup.

1. Set up parental controls

To set up parental controls on your G Cloud device, please follow the steps outlined below using either Method A or Method B before handing the device to your child.
Important: You need to create Google accounts for both yourself and your child before configuring the parental controls.

A. Parental controls via Family Link

Set up parental controls by adding your child’s Google account:

1. Tap Setting -> More Settings -> Android Settings → choose Account for Google Account login
2. Follow the on-screen prompts to add your child’s Google account to the device and activate parental controls through Family Link. Once you complete all steps, you will receive a confirmation that the parental controls have been set up in your child’s device 

A. Parental Controls via Digital Wellbeing

1. Tap Settings -> More Settings -> Android Settings → find Digital Wellbeing & parental controls
2. Scroll down and choose “set up parental controls.”
3. Follow the on-screen prompts to sign in with your child’s Google account and activate parental controls through Family Link. Once you complete all steps, you will receive a confirmation that the parental controls have been set up on your child’s device.

2. How to control and manage your child’s G Cloud device

To control and manage the contents on your child’s G Cloud device via Family Link, please follow the instructions below:

1. Download and install the Google Family Link app on your device.
2. Tap the Family Link app on your device to manage the settings on your child’s device, such as control the content that can be downloaded or purchased, set app permissions, check your child’s device screen time etc.

NOTE: Please note that there might be slight adjustments during your parental controls set-up process if Google parental control and family link software are updated.
